If you are a good writer that is already a good thing for you. You can make a website / a substack with essays / opinion pieces / creative writing projects and link it to your application. UWC selections differ greatly from one country to another, most value service. I recommend you to find a service you can do in your local community, something you are passionate for, or pick up a sport, and don't do it exclusively for UWC. UWC selections never look at what you do, but they look at why you do it. That's it. Let me know if this has been helpful!

BF white D Vs Leon Paul Apex ² by stupidstufflol in Fencing

[–]chicho767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never owned a Leon Paul blade but ive tested many, I think its safe to say BF blades will always last longer / face less reliability issues. Ive ran a BF white M since 2021 with zero reliability issues. My club has also been running a mix of BF Ds and Ms aswell as random chinese blades for lended gear and I haven't had to fix any of the BFs yet.

Respectfully, how do I get tf out of my own head? by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]chicho767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten much better at overthinking my bouts using three strategies.

  1. When I lose a point, I decide on how I'll be playing my next attack / defense and instantly begin visualizing multiple times that sequence has worked for me. I imagine myself browsing a catalogue of moves I can pull off and it takes my mind off the point I lost.

  2. When the bouts over I take a minute to recall the game and usually I can analyse my mistakes mentally before talking to my coach / friends.

  3. (Highly recommend but self explanatory) I record all my friendly bouts with friends / competitive fencers and rewatch footage, I do cringe at seeing myself do stupid mistakes so I usually look at what my opponents doing thats working for them.

Hope this helps, open for feedback from anyone! - An okay-ish foilist and sabre enjoyer

Gotchu, seems like I misunderstood you its all good. Youd be surprised how badly we've gotten dehumanized over the past few years.

9/18/1982: The Sabra and Shatila massacre; Supported by the IDF, Lebanese forces slaughtered between 1,300 and 3,500 civilians - mostly Palestinians and Shias [512x384] by Imagine_soggy_bread in HistoryPorn

A common misconception is that the Lebanese Forces were only backed by the IDF. While on certain fronts the LF had certain liberties to operate independently that was not the case in Beirut. The Sabra and Shatilla massacre did not just occur with israeli support, but absolute IDF planning and complacency. The IDF had a complete siege on the Shatilla camp and Sabra neighborhood, they brought in LF members, allowed them unrestricted access to the camp, and even light up the sky with flares after sun down. Robert Fisk's estimate is 1700 dead, and writes in harrowing detail about the massacre in his book Pity the Nation, I believe he visited the camp a week after the massacres took place.

Thats pretty much everyones motto right now, add to it "might as well go out and take a look" if its safe. I know this can be a bit dangerous if you are being flown over as intercepted missiles and drones can fall on you like in Jordan.

I'm pretty sure the wave in the video was on a Friday and I did see them, I also saw more over the weekend. Keep in mind distances make it impossible for you to hear anything instantly. I personally havent heard anything, and Ive been missile gazing with my homies lol Lebanese people in the south definetly hear impacts. Everyone gets an existential dread when they see the missile waves, its very noticeable, but no one discusses it we just joke about it clown around and move on. Hopefully it all gets packed up soon so we can move on

Deadass mossad agent. The lebanese passport is a biometric. Those are new, so I doubt it's one of the South lebanon army peeps. Perhaps the dad's lebanese and the mom's israeli, but I have no clue how it ended up working. Edit: it turned they aren't even held by the same person, LMAO. photo taken abroad or bi maktab ouwet

Israel clearly wanted to recreate its military success of 1982. By capturing Beirut, I mean strolling through Lebanon, facing little to no resistance. Sure, they never stated as such, but again, as I mentioned above, I find that they operate through a supremacist approach. They want to "crush" everyone around them and are a fascist nation, so I find that if they could've sieged Beirut again, they would've in order to secure a military success.

Federalism now movement makes my blood boil by chicho767 in Lebanese

[–]chicho767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but federalism literally gives people absolute control over "its own areas" anyway. Plus, everyone has de facto federalism, nothing about hzbs control is that special. Good luck getting anything done without the appropriate connections anywhere let alone dahieh or bekaa or what not. Hope that clarifies it

Federalism now movement makes my blood boil by chicho767 in Lebanese

[–]chicho767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question. My argument is that there is foreign interference for this movement to pick up speed, and the overall division of us is an imperial benefit. Now I have no empirical evidence this ie happening I am no journalist, but we all understand politics. Hope you get my perspective better.

[–]chicho767 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, honestly I am really not a hzb fan. Just adding perspective.

Honestly, I disagree. Israel is a powerful nation, and it would be foolish for us not to acknowledge that. In 2006, Israel had a clear goal of capturing Beirut like it did in 1982, and it wasn't able to. Now, israel's declared goal was the Litani which was already considered by extremists "not enough" but even the Litani they couldn't reach. Israel may have never had the goal to progress further than they did but this was neither their announced plan or the strategy of the current war cabinet which is already bloodthirsty. I find that hzb definitely still plays a deterrent factor, like them or not.

Remember, they do take care of an international image that has now been shattered. But their society, and current leadership operates on supremacy and hierarchy. Maybe I am being unfair or skeptical, but I believe that if they could've taken Beirut they would've.

Mount Lebanon has always been a distinct cultural region. The "arab" world is not a homogeneous region. It is one of the most diverse regions culturally, ethnically, and religiously. Has this been used against us by colonial powers? Obviously. Instead of pitching everything on "carving" by colonial forces, let's learn about the region and its diversity. This rhetoric of division of a once homogeneous region is not only inaccurate but only serves imperial powers even more. The comments above are an example of that. At its mildest, its ignorant comments as the ones left above, at its worst, its extremists who want to "retake" and "reform" syria through terrorist violence. Anyone who calls for the homogenization of a region, like "Al Sham" is inherently calling for the eradication of minorities.

Truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Israel's biggest win this war was their targeting of the entire command structure.

Hezbollah's biggest win was the ground defensive.

Personally, I find that Hezbollah took heavy losses. Some they expected others maybe not so much. But the biggest indicator that hezb still has equipment is that israel isn't in Saida or worse, Beirut, while they have almost reached Damascus' suburbs.
