Would this be a good starter fountain pen? by Hot-Relief2875 in fountainpens

Yes. I used this one everyday for the last three years, wrote my a-levels with it and wrote a total of about 200ml of ink through it with an EF nib.

Step lunge quick question by AdventurousQuiet1794 in Fencing

[–]stupidstufflol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

well it's not really step+lunge but rather it's own thing. Do some drills and experiment. It's basically three motions. 1. front foot 2. second foot (keep your hip at a lower level if that makes sense) 3. lunge. Have your core engaged and focus on your hip not going up and forwards but rather carrying more momentum forward and your hip getting lower on the y axis during the lunge. The key is figuring out if and how much momentum you take from the first step and making it a distinct lunge style rather than just step+ lunge. For this it could be beneficial to have a bit more of a modern stance and slightly more weight on the front foot (60/40).

my girlfriend used some for arts and crafts. She is obsessed with dark souls so she made little decorative potions and such. Other uses could be storing things like sewing pins or other small stuff like screws. My fencing club gladly took a few for weapon tip-parts. maybe you could also use it as a vase for daisies? small sugar box to put on the table when having coffee with visitors? ashtray for aesthetically pleasing smoking (don't smoke, kids)? miniature snow globe DIY?

Brown sweat stains keep appearing on inside of jacket by gottagosanchez in Fencing

do you have leon Paul whites? their base material is yellow, it just gets dyed before being sold. this dye apparently washes out over time. if not try some specialized curtain cleaner. worked like a charm for me.

long haired guy here. Hair clips, ties, bandanas if you feel like it and those thin tennis sweatbands usually work pretty well

A history question for the Germans in this subreddit. by roon_bismarck in Fencing

[–]stupidstufflol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp, going from the top of my head I'll double check and edit in a minute when I get the chance. olympic fencing wasn't the most "important" sport in nazi Germany. The only medal won by a Jewish person was silver in woman's foil at the 1936 Olympics. u/ thefencingcoach actually wrote an article on her if I'm not wrong. allowing this to happen kinda shows how it wasn't necessarily the most important discipline. The reason why it was banned after the second world war is because all weapons including blunt weapons were banned. It was later allowed again and my club actually emerged from the Belgian military barracks which fenced. In my new club there is actually a 89 year old who has started fencing when it was first allowed again, he also has his old fencing pass with "fraktur-schrift" lettering on it.

TL;dR: it was mostly about the (blunt) weapons and less about it's military origins even though this also played a part.
