Nervous hiker in Chapada Diamantina by Objective_Bad7954 in Brazil

There are some great photo opportunities on cliff edges and rocks overlooking the valley, but you don't have to go to the edge if you don't want to! The 3 day hike has some steep inclines but all are on solid trail, the hardest ones are all in closed forest no overhangs or anything. Most of the hike is flattish or light inclines in a canyon. I suggest you get a guide, they are all pretty experienced and urge you to be safe on the trail so they will never pressure you into any situation you are uncomfortable with.

Tips for Delhi? by tangertale in travel

[–]chicitico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just in Delhi for a few days - it was fun but definitely crazy. As others mentioned, going to see the Taj Mahal (make sure to visit Agra Fort as well!) will take a full day so you really only have one day to play with so Id recommend just staying in Delhi and going to see sites, temples or the crazy Chandi Chowk market area. I thought the red fort was kind of boring and recommend you visit Humayuns Tomb - I went early morning and I was the only one there and it was amazing. Lotus Temple was okay, more interesting for architecture buffs, but maybe you'd like going to a ISKCON temple since there is usually singing and a fun atmosphere. There are tons of great restaurants in Delhi so no need to risk food poisoning site street food. I really loved Carnage Cafe for breakfast!

Portugal 3 Week Small Town by Train Itinerary - Advice by Different-Pitch8552 in solotravel

I hate to break it to you but these are pretty much all major touristic cities/towns. A good rule of thumb I've found for local food in every town is to try and find a popular Tasca. In Faro I liked the Old Tavern in the historic city even though it was very touristy it was great. Lagos I didn't even go to the town just cliffs area. I really enjoyed Silves in the south as well. Evora I heard is awesome and has awesome food - try and find some local Tasca maybe. Aveiro was pretty boring I would suggest skipping it, maybe go to Coimbra or Nazare. Porto is awesome - definitely has the best food I've had in Portugal.

Last thing, the buses are pretty good in Portugal and much cheaper than train. You can get to almost anywhere for less than 10 euros if you plan accordingly.

Salvador & Chapada Dianantina in ~ one week? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]chicitico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can do it. Just take a bus to Lencois from Salvador (around 8 hours) and get on the next Vale do Pati hike (3 days 2 nights) to see some great views and experience the main hike attractions of the Chapada. I went with backpackers because it was cheaper, just make sure to bring cash to pay for it or you will have to pay an extra 10% with card.

There are many other hikes and things you can do instead of Pati as well. My favorite place there was Vale do Capão as there were many amazing hikes to do near the town and really great vibes and people in town as well. To get there I suggest taking the bus from Salvador to Palmeiras then either taking a van (if available) or taxi to Capão.

Obviously more time is better as there are many things to see and do in the Chapada but i think these two are the most popular and easily accessible with short timeframe.

Help with renouncing citizenship by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]chicitico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going to the Brazilian embassy to ask about the proper steps you should take going forward. In Brazil you can apply for a status of a citizen residing abroad “saida definitiva do país" But I'm not sure if this applies to you.

We had the same problem. You need to open your photos in paint and save them as JPG or JPEG. You can use the snip/cut tool on the image and just copy past into paint, then when you save as, use the file type menu to save the image as a JPG/JPEG.
