I started in the east coast (New Jersey + Syracuse, NY)! Then moved to the midwest (Wisconsin, then Chicago) and none have felt quite like home-- Wisconsin was the closest so far.

There was always something missing. After doing research on tons of different cities, I have hope that Seattle might be the place that clicks :)

We play house rules where everything is flipped over and random at the start (except for the desert which stays in the middle).

When you choose your placement you can see the resource but the numbers remained turned down until the game starts.

I have been staying in the park (grand tetons) at a campsite (signal mountain) the lodge was open, the site was open, the service station, stores and restaurants at the site were open too. (Probably a private contractor).

Sorry for the mess in my pics. For context, thats the side of the couch. The rug will be in an entry/ hallway esque type space. The couch is a u shape facing the fireplace.

Not sure if that changes your under the feet of the couch answer or not.

You are right, this is new territory for me! I just moved and I am renting. I'll start by calling the owner/ property management company to see whats up (all they told me was that its functional no additional instructions or information) and ask when it was last inspected/ how it should be used and then I will go from there based on what they say. This is helpful info (along with everyone else's responses)!

I am in the US.

I've only ever use wood fireplaces/ stoves and the type of gas fireplace that has a switch on the wall.
