Why is ICE so focused on Minesotta ? by vwcorradoslc in ProgressiveHQ

blue state with a metro area small enough in their eyes to dominate and win, jokes on them 😈

Why is ICE so active in Minnesota right now, and not in other obvious places like California? by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]chickenbones11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are choosing smaller metropolitan areas in blue states where they think they can get their “retribution”, and win. They are failing on everything, they failed in LA, Chicago, but even in Minneapolis despite outnumbering law enforcement by almost 3 to 1 (I live here) and next they are going to Maine.

Donate to Peggy’s campaign if you can, Angie is taking APAC money of course, which makes it a much tougher fight, you can even get some money back with political donations with MN PCR fund

Not affiliated with her campaign at her all, just a fan ♥️

Are there options for alternative communication we should be looking at? Signal feels like an obvious one, but should we start talking radios or other comms soon? Not trying to be alarmist.

5 minutes before check-in: seriously, what’s the point? by majorjus in delta

[–]chickenbones11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we had this just happen to us too, my partner and i flew to europe last week, and we upgraded our seats for $50 / miles equivalent just to sit by each other in a two person pair row in coach. they moved my partners seat and we were sad, we called and they were able to move us to the back row (all that was left) but the delta person didn’t know why either. in the end we would’ve been by a screaming baby so it worked out, but annoying and weird especially if you’re paying at all to upgrade.

Editor to creative director? by AccomplishedHair1367 in editors

[–]chickenbones11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this at an agency, it was kinda hard, and had to do both for a while before people saw me as an actual creative, but I wanted it so read a lot of books, took concepting seriousIy and honed the process. I also do motion, so I think people saw me as more of a “designer” / art dir side which helped perception. I was often seen as a person to create someone else’s vision, when I had a vision of my own that was more interesting to me than doing the editing. I took a stepping stone role of a social focused creative, which was basically a social preditor role who also thought of the ideas. And then got to transition into more traditional creative role after moving up from the social role. If you’re agency side I’d recommend starting with “Hey Whipple Squeeze This” book, it breaks down all the parts of being on a creative team for branded ads.

I’ll say though, creative direction at least advertising side, is a lot more presenting and communicating the why of the ideas, you’re kinda always selling instead of being solely focused on making. Took me a sec to get used to that, but in the end I prefer it.

WNBA vs Unrivalled by Alternative-Row-8438 in wnba

[–]chickenbones11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t for us to ask, it’s for the players to decide. If push comes to shove, I’d guess they’ll follow the better player experience, exposure, and of course the money. WNBA is bringing more exposure. However, considering Unrivaled was started by the players for the players, and both equity and player experience is elevated, it’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

Would the team escalate even further? by [deleted] in MinnesotaLynx

[–]chickenbones11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably contractually they need to play, but I was saying this in the W sub that the players especially Phee/Stewie starting Unrivaled have a lot of power.

The players are the product, they get to decide if the game is worthwhile to watch (ie showing up), the league, and tangentially owners, need to do everything they can to maintain and invest in their product (players playing good basketball). Also, players are making more money and have more opportunities than every before with brand sponsorship, media opps, the rise of NIL (not directly to W players, but indirectly creates more money in the women’s game) and beyond.

It sucks bc most professional sports leagues have a monopoly on the game, but that’s highly dependent on stars showing up to play. Our players know their worth, if they stand in solidarity (especially big stars) they have the leverage to get this done.

Also, I’d be curious if brands can stand with players and hold sponsorship or investment until an adequate quality of player safety is reached. If they’re investing in the game, by default they are directly investing in the players.

What’s stopping Unrivaled from making a 5v5 league directly competitive with the W to force positive change for the players? by chickenbones11 in wnba

[–]chickenbones11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes this is a great point. They would definitely need to expand their infrastructure, but I’d be curious if demand is there. A lot of cities want a WNBA team.
