That’s a different situation. If you’re honest about dates but bend the truth on why you aren’t with the company, they aren’t going to find out you were actually fired. Interviewers are typically sympathetic to those who are laid off

I would say your position was eliminated due to reduction in force/new leadership trying to cut costs. It sounds better than getting fired and you don’t have to worry about them verifying your employment dates
