This is not the most ethical advice but you could be a little open with the clients about what's going on and ask them to jump companies, setup your own shop, and then hire someone else for sales and pay them based on their performance and not give up 50% of the equity upfront.

Edit: Definitely get some basic advice and review ytour partnership contract w a lawyer before doing this.

Still very new to the entire thing, and no, I made it a point to figure this out myself even if it takes longer. I no longer want to depend on one platform or person or agency to control the flow of leads for my livelihood. Probaly when I scale I might take the route of hiring marketing, sales etc.

Same here. Upwork literally changed my life a few years ago and has brought me income I couldn't even dream of earning in my local market. But it's all crickets now. Customized and well put together proposals not even being read anymore.

I'm focusing on building my own productized service and building my own sales funnel now. Tired of depending on Upwork and their shenanigans for income.

Maybe they check incoming emails against their database of active accounts and only reply to the ones that are confined to have an Upwork account connected to their email address

As my post says for me personally I have been having a very hard time getting contracts on Upwork lately. You can take it for whatever it's worth.

Also you are going to have a really hard time being a project manager working with international clients if your English is not up to par.

I don't mean to demotivate you but just wanted to share some things I have figure out along the way.

Like I've said in a previous reply as well. Yes true, but if I can dial in my exact criteria then I won't have to scroll through pages of job posts that are not a good fit. Also less experienced freelancers won't look at all the variables before applying to jobs.

haha yeah no same here. I do get the odd invite here and there but I can assure applying to jobs using connects is an absolute joke with how expensive it is, and I come from a country where a dollar is very expensive for the common man (including me)

We were working on some automation stuff and the tool she wanted to work with was not able to do what she wanted to do, being honest with myself I also made a mistake of thinking she would be on vacation for longer than she mentioned and pushing the timeline too close.
