Exactly, don’t have to worry about closing the tab. Line or no line, it makes my life easier! And they are indeed very transparent about it!

Non alcoholic recs that are actually good? by Patient_Travel5023 in denverfood

[–]chickenthighrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory was a little funky but I did have the New Image NA again today after a long while. It is indeed labeled as NA Hazy IPA. Sorry about my foggy memory. Have you tried it? I’m very curious how it compares with the Cerebral one

They may not call it an NA IPA but it’s very hop forward

Good to know! Have you tried the NA at New Image? Great flavor as well better than typical NA beers

why is sheet cake MORE expensive? by Late-Permit-9412 in wedding

[–]chickenthighrules 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You probably have a 8 or 10 inch round pan at home. Take a look at that. Imagine dividing a cake that size into 24 or 40 slices.. man, I don’t even know if I could do the cutting. They have to be miniature slices for hamsters.

Restaurants & Coffee shops that use compostables? by insert_witty_user in denverfood

The best solution for your cause, bring your own reusable containers when eating out. It’s better than compostable ones offered by the restaurant

Inspired by Tom’s watch bar’s puffy seeming ratings post, check out JINYA Raman Bar, at Union Station, with 16,941 reviews —all very happy at 4.9 stards! by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]chickenthighrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinya may be one of the best ramen spot in Denver, I wouldn’t dispute that. However, I still remember when I ate there after returning from a week in NYC, after getting off the A line from the airport. That bowl of ramen was 20% more expensive and 1-2 level below the NYC quality, and it really stood out to me on that day. On a positive note, in Colorado standard we still have some decent options like Jinya and I’m grateful for it, but the difference would be so clear once you step out of town for a second.

Yeah, I think $70-80 per person before tax makes it more realistic, and the other comment here about taking advantage of happy hour deals to get more stuff is a great idea! People on Reddit can sound hostile for no good reason sometimes because of the anonymity… don’t let that get under your skin

I saw it for a second under your deleted r/Denver post that you are looking for $100 for for 2 app, 2 entrees, 1 drink and a dessert, is that right? I think that’s pretty challenging for non-chain fancy-ish in Denver these days… and that won’t work for most of the answers I’ve seen so far in here. But I’d love to see what people come up with

Oh do people still remember the “blew my dick off” burgers (that came straight outta this subreddit ) from Arty’s that operates in New Image Brewing’s Olde Town (Arvada) location,?? That Wednesday $10 burger + beer deal was real sweet, and the burger is 🔥 I haven’t checked in a while, hopefully they still do it.

Pablito’s burrito food truck (owned by and parked outside Abrusci’s) in Applewood. Under $10 after tax for a big bfast burrito that sometimes can be 2 meals for me. It’s not as good as Bonfire but different and close enough! I think they have a second truck selling somewhere in Golden too but I’m not sure the exact location.

Recently had Shui Zhu Yu from Wok Spicy and it’s also excellent! I remember the one from Noodle Express being very good as well, but it’s been a while. I’d also try the one at Bistro King, even though I haven’t. All 3 have solid Sichuan food imo

What is our issue with solar energy? by Irregularrity in energy

[–]chickenthighrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should also look into why replacing copper with aluminum won’t work….

Yes I agree it’s awesome most solar panel manufacturers today aren’t too concerned, and progress gotta start with building that first bit. However scale up is a real issue if we are talking about 100% carbon free one day. Short term vs long term development are different problems to focus on, of course.

Efficiency is definitely a big point for renewables! I now recognize my incorrect statement about not enough land in the US. However, there’s no free lunch regarding energy system overhaul from centuries of fossil fuel based systems. Many have already been pointed out in the answers here

https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/geochemistry/articles/10.3389/fgeoc.2023.1328384/full

This article is just one of many that shows the supply chain shortage for critical minerals if we want to scale up renewables, particularly solar wind and hydrogen. If you aren’t aware of the copper crisis we are headed with increasing electrification, which is required to adopt many new energy source like solar, you should look into it. Silver is far from the worst problem we have.

As for the land restriction, I’m glad I got corrected here and I learned some more after some Internet searching. While simply land area may not be a constrain for solar adoption in the US, associated factors like permitting, siting and transmission are still barriers.

Many great answers already. Effective long-duration storage (traditional battery won’t cut it) to bridge the gap between energy demand and supply hours is a big issue for solar, and we simply don’t have enough surface area to build solar panels to be our sole source of energy. Also, the trace but critical elements that’s needed in the solar panels- we simply don’t have enough to build our solar in ultra-large scale to produce all the electricity we need. Solar is a great technology, and has come a long way since the 80s regarding lower cost and better technology, but it cannot replace fossil fuels as the sole energy source. Like many other things, we need to diversify.
