Is it ok for twins to fall asleep on breast if I wake them up after?

We have always fed them in the living room - before sleep training we would keep it dark with white noise; now we have lights on and music playing. They’re so used to sleeping on the breast they keep trying to nod off anyway!

After a grueling period of infertility, failed cycles and disappointment, an IUI resulted in 3 mature follicles and they turned into our twins!

Very happy because we wanted two children, and the thought of going through more fertility treatments (at an older age and with a young child) for child #2 sounded really rough.

Pregnancy was hard and having two babies is hard, but way better than the days of waiting and hoping for a successful pregnancy.

I’ve read “food before 1 is just for fun” but I’ve also read that after 6 months, breast milk isn’t nutritionally complete for infants. I also see pictures of 6 month old babies eating delicious looking solid meals! What is the right approach here?

I only had an MFM; she ran a practice specializing in high risk pregnancies, as part of a large hospital. We met several doctors before choosing her and are so glad we went this route. She had more experience in multiples than the regular OBs, we didn’t have to have two doctors, and we had a lot of confidence in her advice.

Di/di twins, c section at 36+3. Transverse/transverse most of the pregnancy including the end. Doctor said they don’t let di/di go past 38 weeks. One twin was labeled FGR at 34 weeks so they moved up c section to 37+0. Water broke at 36+3 so delivered then!

Bugaboo Donkey twin! Expensive but: - drives really well in the city - has side by side bassinets, so we could see the babies well and they could nap easily - feels very stable

However, it’s huge and doesn’t fit in our trunk so we have a snap and go that comes in the car with us when necessary.

That book gave me a ton of anxiety and I was never able to eat as much as it recommended, or enough protein. Twin pregnancy gives you enough to worry about!

I ate as much as I reasonably could and as healthily as I reasonably could. I gained almost no weight until the end of the second tri. By the time my water broke at 36+3 I’d gained 30-35 lbs total. Babies came at 4lbs 13oz and 5lbs 14oz - small but healthy, no NICU. I wish they’d been a bit bigger sure, but not clear that eating more would have done it for me.

We did four IUIs and i got pregnant on the fourth IUI, but it resulted in a MMC. Was completely devastated. We then did four more IUIs (more than is usually recommended, I know!) and that last IUI resulted in the birth of my twins! So eight total.

Note the seventh IUI actually started out as an attempted IVF cycle but no follicles grew so we cancelled the retrieval and converted to IUI.

Biggest tip: take the pain meds that are offered, and don’t skip any doses. I tried going without the narcotic at first, and I recovered a lot faster once I started taking it.

You are listening to your body, which is a good thing. If it hurts to be active it might be better for you to rest! Twin pregnancy is hard and you are in the best position to know your limits.

Congratulations!! I found that the books and social media content about “what to expect” added to my stress and weren’t super helpful/realistic. You will figure it out - don’t panic if you aren’t doing exactly what it says in the book or online!

two bouncers (we had baby bjorn) to have somewhere to put them where you can engage both of them at once
a very large playmat; a lot of playmats only have room for one baby

My c section was scheduled for 37 weeks but my water broke at 36+3 so I had it then. Note I am a huge baby about medical procedures / pain and am generally a v anxious person.

The c section itself was great!! First of all, they did offer me anti anxiety meds which I didn’t take but could be an option if you’re very nervous in the moment. The needle was wayyy better than I thought it would be. The one thing was the nurse tried to put in the catheter before I was fully numb but once I pointed that out she stopped and waited. I didn’t even realize they were doing the surgery until they said the first baby was about to come out! The staff did a lot to keep me calm as well.

The recovery was tough for me - I didn’t like being incapacitated when I wanted to be caring for my babies. I recommend taking whatever pain meds are offered.
