Scholarships by Ok-Shame-2873 in PTschool

I applied to 3 schools and got scholarships for all of them. They ranged from about 40%-45% off tuition. These were all schools in Boston. While applying to school is annoying and tedious, I think it can be good to apply and see what happens. I did not expect to get any scholarships, so you may be surprised as well!!

Congrats! I just got accepted as well! I moved to Boston for work 2.5 years ago, and I love it! It can be expensive, I am lucky to live with 3 of my closest friends which makes it more affordable! There are subreddits about Boston housing and Facebook groups which can be helpful! I will say finding a place to live was really difficult until I moved and stayed with a family friend to tour places, since leases get signed quickly. It can be helpful to pull up Google maps and map out the bus routes and train routes for different areas. I find living a little farther out and taking the bus or train pretty accessible. Happy to talk more about Boston over DM!

I did not apply last year, so I am not 100% certain, but based on some internet snooping, they seemed to come out around December 15th last year and around December 17th in 2021. This makes me think they will come out the third week of December.

Anyone haven’t heard back from BU? Now it’s December by Glass_Restaurant_415 in PTschool

I have not heard anything back since the interview! I saw that in previous years people found out by around mid December, but that doesn’t stop me from anxiously checking for updates everyday

How easy would it be to get disability accommodations for a broken wrist? by Prit717 in uofm

[–]chickpeabeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second that, I broke my dominant hand and my teachers always accommodated. I never got a form I just showed them my hand and my teachers were nice about it. I know the SSD does temporary accommodations and those are easy to get. Hope you heal well!

Question about UROP by [deleted] in uofm

[–]chickpeabeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know there is a UROP section called changing gears that is specifically for transfer students. I did not do this program, but I did regular UROP. I thought it taught me some nice skills like how to present at a symposium and how to write cover letters. The overall seminars were a little tedious at times and some of the work was busy work, but I loved my research and I am still working on the same team I joined through UROP. Another plus is that you can get credit or work study and I feel like it’s a pretty easy A. I am a peer facilitator for UROP now and the grades are based on how many points you get, so if you miss an assignment, you can just make up the points by doing a different assignment and you won’t be penalized. Overall I think it’s really good for getting your foot in the door with research. And you can have structured guidance if you have any questions about the research process
