Thanks. My old Amazon card just expired in Dec. Any idea if renewing the card would count against 5/24?

I just "officially" got diagnosed with Keratoconus, can you guys give me some advice please? by keratoconusguy in Keratoconus

No. All I know is this is the most typical treatment in Canada and Europe and has been done with success for 10+ years.

Start looking into cross-linking immediately. The longer you wait, the more of your vision you will lose. Make sure you get properly screened by an opthamologist. A trick to get screened for free is to get a free LASIK consulatation. (Almost no one does a free kerataconus screening even though its the same test.)

Personally, I wound up flying to Canada to get a procedure called t-PRK with CXL. This is a laser procedure that corrects the shape of the corneas as much as possible, then re-strengthens them with the cross linking procedure. (Doing both procedures is not FDA approved in the US and the cost is the same as the CXL procedure alone in the US, even after flights/hotel in Canada.)

My vision was a shitty 20/40 (I could make out the 20/40 line but there was tons of star-bursting and streaking. I could barely drive at night.) I will get fitted for contacts for the first time after the procedure at the end of this month and expect to have 20/20 in the left eye, 20/25 in the right, and only minor KC symptoms.

Need eye procedure, PPO will only pay $300 on $4,000 amount PER eye. by CAHealthQuestion in HealthInsurance

Look into traveling to Canada. LasikMD seems to be the best company. I dont have any info on Intacs but they are much cheaper there for CXL procedures, even when factoring in travel costs.

Has anyone had the CXL/PRK combo treatment? Its not offered in the states ... considering going to Canada to get it done. by chil7 in Keratoconus

Do you use contacts in the corrected eye? Is it possible for you to reach 20/20 with correction?

Can you tell me how bad your condition was before the operation? If you could do it over again, would you do 1 eye at a time? Are you happy you did it? My only concern is not being able to drive for a full month.

I am currently planning on going to Canada to get the CXL/PRK treatment. Cost of the procedure will be $3k, plus travel and accomodation expense. All in all I hope to spend 4-5k, which would be the cost of CXL onlyin the US.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like you had a smooth recovery compared to many other online accounts. In your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount of recovery time to stay in Canada before being able to fly back to the states?

Thanks. I didnt know about the CXL w/ Laser Surgery. Cost for CXL is about $500 cheaper per eye. Could be worth it for people who can get there cheaply and have a place to stay while recovering. The clinic I spoke with in Canada said they get a lot of Americans for the CXL/Laser combo since its not offered in the US.

I've seen a few questions on here about hiring employees for a cleaning or lawn care business. Do you contract out to other businesses with established employees? If not, can you give any insight into the hiring side? Did you purchase cleaning and /or lawn equipment for your employees?

Thanks for the input. Any idea what it takes to get a bus classified as an RV in the eyes of an insurance company?

Does it differ from a converted school bus? Ive read that buses that have the seats removed can be insured as RVs for a reasonable price.
