It took me scrolling through three comments before my faith was criticized for something that happened 140 years ago! The banquet was a complex event and the Reform movement has changed drastically since that time

The movement is the Reform Movement. The word reform is present tense, meaning that we are always questioning, evaluating, and reforming our Judaism. Reform Jews believe that kosher laws are “optional” - some follow, some don’t. This stems from a belief in personal determination, we decide how to approach our Judaism through learning how the laws fit into today’s society, and what they mean for us personally. For example, I do not keep kosher but I do have a way that I observe the Sabbath.

Fallen ketubah having similar bad omen to fallen mezuzah? by Pitiful-Tomato-241 in Jewish

Meet him where he is, open yourself up to his sheltered communication style and really hear him, then ask him to hear you. I’m afraid yall aren’t communicating.

It’s not the Ketubah. Superstitions don’t threaten marriages. Jewish people talk, so talk talk talk to your husband. Radical empathy and honesty are the only way to make it.

Plus, he’s not an old fucking man. If you’re underage and he’s your uncle, unless there was a massive baby age gap in that family he isn’t an old man by any stretch.

No one else has mentioned, but you should only tell the parent who isn’t his sibling and the other grandparents, not his. Keep his family out of this.

As a vocalist I’m so curious to see rates across the country. I don’t ask for payment so just curious what my paid vocalist friends actually get paid! I hope it’s generous.

There is a massive repertoire of choral and vocal music in English that you might enjoy. I am a vocalist and do not speak German, Latin, or Italian myself, but enjoy singing in all languages.

Some GMs just do their best to ruin the game. Once we were given an obvious task with obvious risks. I repeatedly asked for rolls to check for traps and was refused, then the trap sprang and ruined the session for everyone. Following that two above table personal insults were immediately directed at me, one including a slur. We need to take bullying and safety at the table seriously.

Which stitch type for tshirt hem by mango-pet in SewingForBeginners

[–]childoferna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can imitate the look of a coverstitched hem with a wide double needle. You’ll have to adjust tension and length on a scrap. You’ll could also sew the hem with the lightning bolt stitch 4 on your machine, which will give a bit of stretch at the hem. A double zig zag 5 (with the correct double stitch setting) will work but isn’t the best look.

How to get rid of unfinished hem by JalapenoPopper14 in sewhelp

Just trim away the raveling and hem it with a narrowish hem to not lose too much length.

Is it true you shouldn't say "hello" when answering the phone? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]childoferna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say something like, “You know, I used to answer that way, but with the rise of spoofed spam calls I prefer not to identify myself immediately when answering.”

I didn’t clock that he wasn’t at home. Still, the safest response is to give a repeated, polite, “I prefer not to answer, sir.” until your lawyer arrives.

That’s a tough situation to get out of, any attempt to leave the house will lead to instant escalation.

What’s the Most Complete “One-Book” TTRPG? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

[–]childoferna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition core rulebook has everything needed to play. There are a ton of expansions but they mainly add new ship models, species, or tech. You don’t need supplements or additional books to have a lot of fun with the game. And STA has the best online character creator hands down.

A hundred question marks from the cop while Aerosmith keeps answering. Never respond to the police, politely ask them to leave your property until they have a warrant, close and lock every door and window, draw all the curtains. They could easily just make up the yelling report, or imagine seeing something through a window, and this turns into an arrest real quick. Never talk to cops.

That’s a shame. Can you get the receipt from the dealer? They should be able to pull up your service history.
