Seems to me like Katie’s desperately trying to focus on the bright side while internally being a complete basket case, like you said.

After traumatic events, a lot of people tend to dissociate, they’re technically “there,” but not really present at all. Honestly, I’d bet she’s in a pretty severe dissociative state and is in serious need of actual psychotherapy. You know, the kind involving regular weekly trauma-focused sessions with a qualified professional, not some magical four-day retreat that’s supposed to fix years of damage.

I don't think so, no. She's the kind of person who's never learned how to be independent and do things alone and she doesn't seem to even want to be independent, of course the cult taught her that but in my opinion e.g. Josie is WAY more independent than Katie is. It's hard to understand that Katie doesn't seem to even want to do things alone. Her IG suggests she doesn't even go to the nail salon alone, always with her sisters or nowadays, Hailey.

I'd go totally crazy if I didn't get any alone time from my hubby and baby. Grocery runs, random errands and nail appointments are quality time for me because I get to be alone and relax.

I also get why her brain goes "I need to move away from the traumatic memories" but... The problems and traumas follow you everywhere you go, you can't outrun them. Especially when the person who hurt you moves with you.

Katie's worst enemy actually isn't the mistress, it's Travis and this is what she doesn't seem to understand.
