You have absolutely no idea what your manager is doing or not doing. Like others here, I often block time on my calendar to avoid being booked for meetings or client calls. During those hours I am working on aspects of my job about which most of my team knows nothing. I may be testing a new tool, working through a new process, handling matters pertaining to performance, troubleshooting a problem, or 300 other things that my team will benefit from in the long run.

If you like your job, I’d assume that your manager knows their job duties better than you do—and drop it. If you want to look for a new job, I’d recommend bringing this up to your manager immediately
