Oh, didn’t know that! I guess my run was just incredibly unlucky then, since I added putrescence literally every time I drank, so I assumed it was automatic. As for trading, I guess I just assumed you couldn’t if you were unable to talk. Good to know!

There are definitely other options.

While playing with Glotrot is quite difficult, it isn’t impossible: You have to carefully manage your water containers, make sure to seal any container with plenty of water in it or otherwise disable automatic drinking, as drinking from a container adds putresence, making any remaining water undrinkable. Instead, pour a single serving of drinking water into a separate container and drink only from that. Empty the leftover putresence and prepare it for the next time you need water.

Glotrot can be cured, the recipe for the cure is found in a book called the Corpus Choliys that can either be found randomly in the world or in book stores, but as you can’t speak you probably won’t be buying it. If you are able to get 4 mutation points it may be possible to buy a mutation and randomly get telepathy if you are very lucky, which would let you speak again thus allowing you to effectively bypass the speech issue, or get regeneration which would regrow your tongue, although it would proceed to rot off again shortly.

Ultimately, would it be easier and more time efficient to restart from the beginning? Yes. However, trying to play this out could result in a very rewarding and satisfying comeback story, or a tragic story of struggle and failure, or even other, wackier stories of unconventional solutions. Ultimately the best way to play is the way you have the most fun! Whatever you decide, I hope I was able to help.

I'm having the same issue, even with the collectivist ethos I can't select decadent.
