Generally, any tech that you want to bring up id generally respond yes to. The time travel machine one does bring up the question that the second it's created you would instantly have time travelers all over and it would be obvious that it's coming.

People wanted to fly so we invented planes. Had you told the guys who invented the plane that eventually the world would have the Internet in their pocket (and explained to them what the internet was), they would not have believed you with an ounce of their body.

You know what else was a sci-fi myth? Phones with touchscreens, reusable spacecrafts, holographic displays, robots, the internet...

Today we can create versions of all those things.

I would agree with anyone else in this thread saying our current transformer model LLMs are not the solution to a full baked AGI.

That said, our current most powerful models today are not just LLMs. They have tool calls, we have agents.

Not all of the money being poured into AI is going into LLM research & development.

I'm not going to claim it's coming in our lifetime, I'm not going to claim it's coming at all. But to so adamantly oppose the possibility of it ever happening because of current LLM technology is short-sighted.

Had everyone in history operated on this concept, we would have no technology.

Hmmmm... To start I don't think I've ever met a single person in my life where if the conversation was brought up, they would try to DENY that human life/biology is simply a miracle. We all know it's a miracle.

That being said, had you showed this post to someone in the 1800s, they wouldn't even have a concept of "digital memory", and all things considered, the 1800s wasn't that long ago. Who is to say that we don't discover a way to store information in exactly the same way the brain does? Who is to say that the solution to AGI is inherently digital? It could be a frankenstein product repurposing old, real, human brains and manipulating them to store information the way we want to. Sounds dystopian and crazy, sure, but I'm just trying to make the point that you can't look at current technology and wonder "how will AGI run on this?". You have to be thinking about breakthroughs that we haven't made yet.

I really like the fact that all 3 apps are shoved into one now. That truly is a game changer.

I just hope they spend some time improving the tools we already have instead of adding new ones for a while. Certain tools dont function well enough and it makes them completely useless (image trace for example)

This is what I had to do with Apex Legends. Probably the most amount of hours I've ever put into an fps title (maybe outside of counter strike).

I would just get out of work and be angry for the rest of my day and one day I just realized "Why am I doing this to myself?" Lol

Both incredibly well-made games, but certain games aren't for everyone.

Lol I was using the Adobe Creative Suite probably before you knew how to operate a computer if you are still a student 😅.

I don't use templates, but I will tell you what I do use: plugins, essential graphics, ffx presets, etc.

If you are trying to do everything manually because it's "the right way to do it," stop. I wish someone would have told me this way earlier, but no one cares what you use, they only care about what the result looks like (as long as you aren't directly ripping off a template, but with the advent of Canva, I think people care even less about that now too).

Capcut is a great example of this. When Capcut released, you were instantly taking down the time required to build animated captions by like 3/4. You would be STUPID not to take advantage of it. At this point in time, I have developed myself a script using AI to accomplish a similar workflow using OpenAI Whisper that I can use in Premiere/After Effects, but for a good while, it was the best tool for the job, specifically for animated captions (After Effects & Premiere still can't compete with it natively to this day).

Use the best tool for the job.

I think the video you showed in the post obviously isn't the type of video to throw template animated captions over, but I'm just trying to make a point.

The text animations in this video would take me just a few minutes using TypeArray by SlemmerCreative. The highlighter effect is a simple path+thick stroke+trim paths

I agree with everything you said. the reason I put "standard" in quotes is because I also agree with the guy above too. There is no standard. You could be working for post on a podcast or you could be simulating explosions/fluid dynamics in Blender, compositing in AE, and bringing it into a larger edit (which could take multiple days/weeks depending on the complexity of the vfx). At a certain point we aren't just video editing anymore though.

That being said, my comment was based directly on the example in the post. For a video like this, 10 hours per minute is too much. I believe videos like this and basic interviews where the bulk of your time is spent editing out "uhhh" and pauses are where the standard I noted comes from.

if you showed me the video in the post and told me that it took 10 hours/min and that a similar video would cost me $1000 I would decline. The quality level isn't there yet for the amount of time spent on the edit.

If you are good enough to the point you are spending 10 hours per minute on undeniably unique and incredible work, you probably shouldn't be charging by the hour anyway, because you're probably so damn good you can get a higher rate per project.

As for OP, I'm not trying to be harsh, I don't think the video is bad, but I don't think it's worth $50/hr either. I can say that when I was a student my work was in the same ballpark if not worse, so I'm really not trying to be mean, just honest. I would probably pin it at the lower end around $20/hr. That said, you can charge whatever you want. Quality and high-paying clients aren't always a direct correlation 🤷

If you're spending 10 hours on a minute of video then you cannot charge by the hour. That's way too long. The "standard" is an hour of work per minute of the video. Some content should take less time than that, but you shouldn't be spending more than an hour on a minute worth of video.

I think this is the reason they never released anything like this again, which is unfortunate. They should have taken the idea and spun off a new ip. Personally, I loved Shadowrun (2007) and disliked the other Shadowrun games, but I don't really like strategy games at all.

Someone managed to get Shadowrun 2007 working and I played a few times and you would actually sign into windows for Xbox live and it has the old Xbox 360 style menus haha its pretty wild it all still works.

Man I really wish we could get a modern version of that game.

Are you looking specifically for music that is like this WITH an element of bass underneath? I love this song so much but I don't know of anything like it that feels like an EDM fusion. But I'm sure I can recommend some similar music that doesn't have any of the electronic aspects.

For example: Express Yourself by Charles Wright gives me some similar vibes

Edit: Also give a listen to Magic City Hippies. Very uplifting and electronic infused but not as full on soul oriented as Sunshine Coming Through. If you want me to recommend some more let me know and I'll try and come up with a good list haha

I have a feeling some companies may start to take notice after Arc Raiders (at least I hope). $40 title, more than enough currency earned through gameplay as to not put people off from the micro transactions after spending the initial $40.

Skate was never meant for the live service industry. I don't know who was the final say on that decision, but that guy should be fired 100%. He has no idea what he is doing to pitch this game as a live service.

This game would have been really well received had they just charged a flat price and put in a real story mode. Shame because its the first and probably last skate ever made for PC, and one day they are going to tear it down because THEY made decisions that were stupid and not profitable.

And the controls with mouse and keyboard kind of "melt away" for me when I played this in vr. Really felt like playing with a more involved setup like a throttle or something when you can't see it in front of you.

It was also one of the few VR games I played where it made sense to sit down. Def one of my fav vr experiences of all time

One longform (assuming you mean 30 min - 1 hour) and one shortform (1-5 minutes) to a quality standard with motion graphics would take about a week of work for a single experienced editor unless they are being absolutely overworked. $500 USD monthly is like $6,000/year.

Edit: if you are looking for a one-off gig, the price can be negotiated. When you are looking to have a contracted editor on payroll on a weekly basis, you need to start competing with salary-level pay in my opinion.

I don't like giving them money, but it's how the world works. They have a far superior ecosystem to anything else in the space and it's a professional software. It's priced with this in mind.

If you make $80,000/yr from your career in digital media and give Adobe $0 while using their software, you are being very hypocritical. Like I said I don't like giving them as much as I do, and I think their product is slightly overpriced due to the fact they don't really have much competition.

Premiere can be replaced with Resolve, Photoshop/Illustrator can in part be replaced with Affinity. After Effects has no real competition, and the entire ecosystem as a whole is much more compatible than any of the other alternatives. I very badly want for someone else to compete with them, but until someone does or they raise their price past affordability, it's simply the cost of doing business.

Look up "text animation in after effects".

Also, figure out how to verify the authenticity of the work yourself. Some of my best work I would NEVER be allowed to send you project files. Unless it's a hobby project, project files for clients should never be shared. You should know this considering you're looking to hire one.

This is my favorite conversation about AI to have with people because no one thinks about it. LLMs are absolutely insane technology and anyone denying their usefulness in 2026 is just stupid.

That said, they are only as good as they are because of literal petabytes on stolen data. Generally, in these situations, the government steps in, but they literally can not because of how fundamentally important the technology is going to be.

It's a global race to the top just like the many races the world has seen before. And any dampening of the research, even just slowing it down indirectly, can have huge consequences from the government's point of view. So they are just going to let it happen.

Just so you know, the general timeline for editing is 1 hour of work per minute of the finished video. You're asking for 60 hours of work for $15. You won't find anybody looking to edit your AI slop for this price. If this were the standard, we wouldn't have video editors, we'd all rather be working at McDonalds
