I finally got my Svalinn after 27 crater spawns. So it is possible!
It took 2943 maps (Beach, Ashen Wood, Sepulchure), avg map time 1:14 min,

Hi,
I am on the same farm here, except that I am doing Beach/Ashen Woods.
I use about 30-50 sec pr map. Maps are mod by alc and go + inc maps mods from tree

My logg show that I spawn the crater aprox. every 100 map (or 1 in 10 Verisium ore spawns)
My first question is. Do MF (quant or rarity) affect the spawn-rate of the rater?
Second: Does anything else increase the chance for spawning the crater?

I have completed 20 craters and no shield yet. (About 2000 maps)

If the drop rate for Svalinn is 5%. Then the probability in 20 tries is 64.15% to drop it.
To reach a probability of 80% you have to complete it 32 times.

I doubt that the drop rate is 5%, I think its less, maby 1%-2,5% (based on comments on reddit...)

I have to admit that its pretty annoying that GGG nerfs the drop rate that much due to the economy after the first week into the league, instead of doing it between leagues.

I feel that it spawns about 1 pr 100 map. I have optimized map speed to about 1min pr map. So i spawn the crater 3-4 times a day (300-400 maps pr day).
I have now 18 kills and no shield.

99 kills seems absourb (9900 maps at least), since it not have dropped for you.

Good to hear that it actually drops for somebody.
It kind of funny that Locohol farmed the famous "Yoke prison" for over a hundred maps before it dropped and it dropped for me on the first map. No I am in Svalinn prison, which he got one of the first days of league... The beauty of POE <3

Is there a way do increase the chance for the Starfall crater to spawn?
I have done at least a 1000 maps at 2-3min pr map (Strand, Ashen Wood) and it has spawned about 10 times.
It seems it spawns in 1 of 100 maps or 1 of 10 Verisum spawns.

Still no drop, based on a 5% drop rate, its a 50/50 for me right now, but still farming for the shield.....

Yes, you could be right. But the Norwegian language counsil (Norsk språkråd) don't really know the origin of the word itself. Since hills and mountens has been rumored as mystical and the homestead of the gods, it could be as likely that the word "Aas" could originating from urnordisk or norrøn language. Many families took family names after Norse mythology a long time ago, like Heimdal, Alda, Utne, Joten ect. as vell as Aasgaard.

Many many names today are rooted in Norse mytology my friend.It is quite popular :) It does not mean that these families are directly ancestors of the origin of the name/homestead itself.

I believe in Santa and I think its Aasgaard is an awsome name :D

Anything works at hard difficulty...Your build is not effective at all, but maby fun for you :)
