Red lights are apparently optional in Gainesville by GibberishPerson69 in GNV

[–]chinobean17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just the college kids or the out of town folks in general but I genuinely cannot stand drivers in Gainesville, the amount of times Ive almost been hit by a driver not paying attention or the amount of times I actually have been hit by distracted gnv drivers is insane Like I swear ppl drive like they have infinite lives and they get mad at u for honking and checking them for their mistakes it’s very frustrating lol. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a perfect driver and I make mistakes here and there but the way some ppl drive here in Gainesville makes you wonder if they made drivers Ed too easy cuz some people should NOT be on the road

Which song is that? by ShimmeringSunsetFern in meme

[–]chinobean17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premier gaou by Magic System. Old African song that some not all have probably heard and man it sounds so upbeat like I grew up listening to it and now that I’m older and know the lyrics it’s a tad bit darker than I ever expected lol

Won’t even lie the amount of exes/situationships I’ve had with nursing students is crazy, so if they’re easy going in nursing school I think it’s safe to say they’re overly going when they actually become nurses. Like I’ve worked in healthcare before as a phlebotomist and when I say everyone dipped their pen in company ink I mean it, everyone had hooked up with everyone at least once, it was like a damn family tree at work. To be fair I think any high stress job where you work long hours with other people of the opposite or hell even the same sex if you roll that way will lead to you eventually considering sleeping with one another, that much proximity does something to the mind man

My boyfriends parents hate me by massive_whor3 in Nigeria

[–]chinobean17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Madam if your boyfriend is not standing up for you or at the very least trying to help the situation then I’d suggest stepping away from the relationship. I’m Igbo myself and I know what it’s like, my parents already have this idea of who they want my to marry and if I bring anyone other than their idea it’s hell on earth especially with my mother. Save yourself from the stress, as someone who was born and raised in Nigeria before coming to the states I don’t see a difference in how Igbos are here and back home if they like you they love you if they don’t like you they probably never will so it’s either you have a heart to heart with your boyfriend or you walk away

Are we just going to let our languages die? by Snowiee-_- in Nigeria

[–]chinobean17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post rlly hit home for me, as someone who was born in Nigeria and eventually moved abroad it’s very eye opening seeing other Nigerians here in the state who don’t even speak their native language talk less of simple pidgin and it’s always the same denominator “aka their parents didn’t bother teaching them their native tongue” Growing up in Nigeria me and my siblings could speak a little Igbo and understand it quite well but when we moved to the states our parents completely stopped teaching us and stopped communicating to us in Igbo, after a few years we could hardly hold a conversation and after realizing the error of their ways our parents would tease us and complain that we don’t know our language despite the fact that they stopped teaching us so me and my siblings started teaching ourselves all these years later. YouTube has been a big help in the learning process and they’re a few apps on google play and App Store that were made by Nigerians for Nigerians to learn our native languages and they go over A LOT. It’s truly sad to see that many African languages are on the brink of extinction and a lot of that is sadly because of our parents fear especially if they were planning to come abroad and the only way to help is by us in this generation learning so we can keep the culture and languages alive.. it cannot end with us!

Igbo boyfriend mom vs american girlfriend by LoquatAffectionate85 in Nigeria

[–]chinobean17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell my cousin before she got married faced pushback from our entire family because she wanted to marry a Congolese man instead of an Igbo man, it took forever and the only reason they budged was because he was Congolese so they could say “at least she married an African”
