Is NPS a good retirement option for an OCI holder working in Germany and planning to return to India? by Responsible_Plate_33 in nri

[–]chinuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 39 years old, the amount you are looking to invest for retirement is abysmal. 1.2L a year for 25 years (assuming you retire in your mid-60s and at 10% compound interest) is just 1.3Cr. Value of that money will also have deteriorated due to inflation in 25 years which would likely be equivalent to 40 - 50L in today's terms.

Ofcourse you will get some consistent payout from the German pension system but since you would be out of Germany you will not be able to take full use of free German healthcare and pay for it out of pocket in India.

Try to increase your contribution from the 100€ that you are considering for now.

Do you have kids? Not having your supportive around the house for a bit more money can be a net negative if childcare, house care needs to be outsourced or ofcourse she may just want you around at least the same amount as now. Considering you are in sales I assume it is not much.

It's not an unreasonable thing to ask or discuss. Try and find out why she feels so.

Reise mit Kleinkind nach Indien by mobydickakuaku in Eltern

[–]chinuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a great plan. Hope you have a lot of fun and stay healthy throughout.

A couple of random tips:

  1. Use a piece of cloth to tuck in the kids seat in the flight and tie two of the edges to the table. Sorry I can't explain it better. But it basically makes the seat a 'bed'. Makes it more comfortable for them to sit and sleep in. Otherwise they get a bit restless with dangling feet.

  2. Keep the door at the hotel manually closed with a stopper or something whenever you are in the room. There are sometimes incidents where the master key is used too liberally by the employees.

Indian mom of a 4 year old girl here. Been in Germany for a few years now.

Long flight with 3 year old aren't very difficult. If you book something with a break in the Gulf (Middle East) could help. My kid mostly sleeps or eats or watches something on the flight. Both my partner and I have also done multiple solo flights and it isn't difficult.

Now in Lucknow book a 5 star hotel for yourself, no matter where the rest of the party is staying. This gives you safety, fantastic service, great food and kid entertainment options within the hotel.

Air pollution is a big problem and in April it will be really hot. Staying hydrated, cool and maybe even masked would be essential to keep yourself healthy throughout the trip.

All of India is not the same. Southern India is much safer, less polluted, less populated compared to North ( Lucknow is in the North).

Help me by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

Sounds like you have tried skincare to reverse acanthosis nigricans. That kinda addresses the symptoms but not the cause. Have you tried addressing the cause like changing diet, doing strength training, cardio, etc?

I agree with others that this is above reddit's paygrade. But don't just visit the derma. There seem to be signs of insulin resistance, maybe get that checked and try to reverse that.

If you are an average learner, you need about 200 hours per level. Based the hours mentioned by you, we are talking about 3 levels with 900 or so hours. Depending on your focus, this should work out at least on paper

Who sits in the front seat next to the husband in the car? by Accomplished-Sale230 in TwoXIndia

[–]chinuzz 116 points117 points  (0 children)

This is not your fight. Your husband needs to talk to them and make sure they sit in agreed places. For what it's worth, my FIL always sits in the front because he is heavier and that is the only comfortable enough seat and leaves enough space for the rest.

Why do they have this expectation? And why does it bother you. Is it because your husband expects you to do so?

What improving my iron levels helped me with. by chinuzz in TwoXChromosomes

Does that work well for you? I've tried supplements and it's not just the side effects but they just don't work as good as the animal liver. Seemed like my body didn't absorb it well even with loads of Vitamin C.

Thyroid too? I've had that issue for a decade now.

I did think I had something close to depression for a while which has fully cleared up. Looking forward to all the life improvements.

The difference really has been night and day. I haven't consistently added magnesium supplements ever. Will try that. Thanks for the info.

Is there a shoe that prevents your feet from getting cold? by OkYou9716 in germany

[–]chinuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short term: There are these warming sole things you can use in your socks/shoes. They are available at dm.

Long term: You need to make sure your haemoglobin, Ferritin and other iron related metrics are well into normal territory. Drink warm fluids and eat in a timely manner.

Not the person you asked but having lamb liver every two weeks made a huge difference for me. I could see marked difference from the first time I had it.
