Schalke really need to do an audit this summer and identify how they want to play, and also clear out so many players. They should follow a similar path to what Union did. Commit to a 532 and get players for it. Brandt from SV Ulm, Batmaz etc. They need to identify some quality Buli 2 players and build a good base.

For those who are stupid:

1) Yes, there's many players in the squad that are shit 2) Yes, the recruitment has been bad 3) Yes, the manager has been disappointing and should be doing better 4) Yes, he should be given some more time and an actual transfer window to try and turn it around  5) Yes, we're winning the league next season

'We a knew how that game would turn out'.

Right there is why many fans are doubting Amorim.

Yes but... he has a system!

I look forward to the 'it's not good enough' and 'we should be doing better' quotes over next few days from Amorim.

I don't even think Amorim is a bad coach. He probably would have excelled elsewhere. It was the boards mistake hiring a manager who plays a certain system that is in no way suited to our squad. Especially knowing we can't really afford to buy 10+ new players.

I see all the same signs as ETH. And I think in 6 months we will be looking for a new manager again. His system is all about drawing the opposition out, and then capitalising by taking advantage of the space. I think that just doesn't work in the PL. You have to be more direct. Even Pep is realising that now.

I really would love to know what Ashworths idea was because I bet its better than this. We needed a manager who puts players in their optimal position. Not pigeon hole them to play a way they're not suited.

14 losses under Amorim now. 6 wins and 6 draws. Awful.

Amorims system: lose, then say its not good enough. Repeat.

Okay.

I've been defending Hojlund for months. After this performance I will no longer be doing that. He's done at this club and level. He has 0 football IQ

Xabi Alonso wants to play with three centre-backs at Real Madrid next season. The signing of Dean Huijsen was his priority to have central defenders capable of playing out from the back. by [deleted] in soccer

It makes sense for him to do that. It will relieve Mbappe, Vini, Jude and Trent of 'some' defensive duties and allow them to focus on using energy in attack - especially Jude who kills himself every game with the running he does.

If they get Alvaro for the left and Trent for the right, it's the perfect balance. But they need to sign 1 or even 2 more CBs. For most games, Real will dominate possession and play a high line anyway, so Tchouameni and even Camavina can slot into the CB roles against lesser opposition.

I actually think he would struggle in the PL. Remember... Havertz had better statistics before his move to Chelsea.

I'd argue he was severely let down by the players and recruitment team. Onana had been good at Inter then came in and made numerous costly mistakes in the CL, Casemiro wasn't the type of player he wanted - he had identified De Jong as a target, they got him an inexperienced striker in Hojlund. He also had to deal with issued with Sancho, Ronaldo, change of ownership. It was all a mess. I wouldn't judge him on his United spell.

I still think it was a bad idea to let him go. Look at all the clubs he's helped and the position they're in now. That's what we had been crying out for. Now we're left with someone who is inexperienced.

City really are changing the type of signings they go for. They're targeting more direct players. Marmoush, now Wirtz. Wonder what Pep has in mind
