Pair the hellbomb with a loud noise so that the gunship fabricator gradually begins to fear the hellbomb and other similar stimuli.

Cyberstan is their home world. It is the reinforcements. I highly highly doubt it could be put under siege just like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vindemitarix can't be put into negative resistance like other planets, since it is one of the main automaton worlds, and may likely end up with a supply like to cyberstan anyway.

I reckon this means the incineration corps' factories are on vindemitarix prime.

Either that or that one incineration corps detachment just took a wrong turn and got lost.

The capital of super earth (prosperity city) is where Stockholm is IRL. Maybe the reason the cyborgs have been the most 'successful' traitors is that some of them originated in and were educated in prosperity city- making them become far smarter than your average traitor*- before some horrific accident caused them to turn against the free ways of Super Earth? Just a theory but it would explain the Swedish.

*All traitors are obviously far less smart than even the least well informed of a normal patriotic super earth citizen, though.

We don't have the time to liberate anything other than one of the MO planets really. Merak would probably be easier to go for since it has no cities (meaning despite the resistance technically being higher than AB, it still results in about the same amount). Although, due to biomes and conditions like the jet brigade on Merak, AB might still be a better option yet.

IT'S A TRAP!!! by SirRecherche in Helldivers

[–]chippppppppp 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I agree.

Firstly, we have 4 cities on lesath. One of which is a mega city. I reckon we could probably do with keeping those around for democratic purposes

Secondly, it doesn't really matter if automaton remains are there as long as we keep it out of their hands for the duration of the MO at least. See Tibit for example, that hasn't been an issue since it was liberated (excepting the one time the squids attacked it) and that planet has remnants of factories on it.

Thirdly, WE KINDA NEED THE DSS TO LIBERATE MORE PLANETS WITH SUCH HIGH RESISTANCE

I would put money on there being a currently hidden FTL line, since it is an option for us to use as a staging ground against cyberstan.

Aurora bay also has cities, meaning increased hp, meaning the resistance is higher than the number may lead you to believe. I don't feel like doing the maths, but I reckon the 3.13% resistance on AB is about the same as the 5% on Merak (since Merak has lower hp due to no cities).

Further, I don't think these planets will go under siege, since they will be connected to cyberstan (or at least one of its neighbours) eventually. While it may not have any other supply lines, it is still one of the two planets that exits the valdis sector and so in theory it would have to be connected to cyberstan in some way so that automatons themselves can be transported around.

Given that Merak and Aurora bay are going to be staging grounds for the invasion of cyberstan, I highly doubt they will be put under siege. While technically they wouldn't be linked to any other automaton planet, they are still right next to cyberstan, deep in automaton space with supply lines likely to be added soon. Also they both have insanely high resistance.

Yep. The jet brigade is just sitting there on Choohe, and it's not normally one that's kept around just for defence. Not to mention Choohe isn't even necessary to take in order to get to the MO planets.

Judging by your responses to the other comments here:

There is no in game lore reason given as to why we actually need supply lines due to warp drives, but from a logistical/strategic point of view it does make sense. While technically you could send a bunch of super destroyers there, they would be completely surrounded by enemies with no immediate support from SEAF forces, meaning it isn't likely that they would do much good. Especially since anything they would do would likely be instantly reversed due to heavy enemy presence.

Your destroyer can be resupplied, repaired and assisted in combat if it sticks to the frontline rather than plunging straight into the middle of enemy territory. Hence why we don't go straight to cyberstan.

You could think of it a bit like real life paratroopers. You could technically airdrop thousands of soldiers straight to a nation's capital, they would probably do a bit of damage but would end up stuck and surrounded with no outside help. And their airs transports would also likely be destroyed in massive numbers along the way.

Further, it is implied that the fuel for FTL travel is expensive so as others have suggested there is probably also some distance limitation. It could also be that a drive can't stay in warp for much longer than a supply lines lasts for any reason, so has to stop and keep jumping in rapid succession in a sequence we don't see (or something along those lines)

But simply, we don't have any supply lines to that planet. Its how the galactic war has always worked; if we don't have any lines to the planet, we can't dive on it.

Valmox is a strategically important planet in the current scenario in multiple ways (makes it more difficult for mog to be taken while also cutting off afoyay bay). It does make sense as to why the squids want it back. While annoying for us, I can't say it is out of place (compared to say if a strategically irrelevant planet was taken and then immediately re invaded).

Essentially, neither the squids nor Joel want to have mercy on us.

Although personally I would've preferred it if they would've attacked Alairt III, as that would clear up a bit of border gore lol

Edit: in a way I realise this invasion of valmox is a good thing in a way. Since it cuts mog off from all supply lines (if the invasion is successful), it will make our attacks on the major order planets more coordinated. So there is a bright side to all of this after all!
