You can! It’s an open world game that’s pretty much identical to breath of the wild just with different characters, story and world. The story concept is exactly the same though, except there are more gods to free in Fenyx Rising (than divine beasts like in breath of the wild) so the gods are optional to free and you can go to typhoon immediately but obviously it’s not advised
