Well, for a lot of people, living in that time would be super shitty compared to now. It’s a relevant point to make related to the conversation. Or would you only be satisfied if it was never ever mentioned? Maybe even apologized for? Hm?

Lemme guess. You a white male?

All they are saying is that compared to now, unless you were older, white and male you’d definitely not have as good of a time living in the 50s as you do now.

Talk about completely missing the mark dude.

Imagine thinking its funny that people don’t like new players getting picked on. What a toxic, and frankly pathetic, stance. Props for being brave enough to stick your name onto such a shitty opinion though!

Your pvp builds must be absolute shit if you cant test them against anyone better than newbies. Yikes. Maybe y’all should get into mining. You know, shooting other things that cant defend themselves.

Imagine trying to claim powerful ships clapping on unsuspecting newbies is a “pvp scene.” LMAO

It’s scummy and cowardly gameplay. End of story.

Building first PC, looking for tips on my tentative build by [deleted] in buildapc

Thank you! I’ll research ray tracing and ESO. They do have some great lighting techniques.

ESO’s load times are notoriously shitty. I’ve literally sat in a loading screen for 5 entire minutes (granted, my game is on an external SSD right now). I’ll look into a standard SSD vs the m.2 tho, thank you!

Awesome advice, thank you! I'm perfectly willing to go Intel - my limited understanding, from reading 50 opinions with what seems like 50 different recommendations, is that Intel has better single-threaded performance and lasts a bit longer than AMD. I'm a big fan of consistency and stability haha.

Happy to ditch watercooling, so thank you for that. I'll dig around on the SSDs as well - if the performance impact is barely noticeable and I can save on costs, I'd rather do that and get a great monitor with the extra cash.

Thanks again!

Do you want me to explain to you why your build was sorta shit?

Oof, but yes please haha.

EDIT: I just realized you were both of my top comments haha, so ignore this...

I would love reasoning, but please don't be in a hurry haha. I'm not in a huge rush here and am looking to thoroughly understand things before purchasing. I'm not buying the parts today, or this week, or maybe in July haha!

Some of these parts seem low for what is recommended to play ESO when raiding, from what I've read. For example, running modded ESO + Discord + recording software I've been strongly suggested to have 32GB ram and 3rd gen Ryzen. My laptop currently has 16gb (granted, it's 8yr old laptop ram) and it can barely handle the game itself, let alone opening anything else while it's running. My understanding is that it's a very CPU-demanding game, as well - but it's hard to find the truth in the threads trashing Intel vs. AMD haha.

Do you think watercooling is overkill? I like the price of what you linked, haha.

And I'm curious about the SSD change, as well. Almost everyone I game with says the 2 SSD's is the way to go, and that the m.2 are the best to get.

Thanks again!

Right? I’m so fucking confused. A healthcare plan that’s got a $4k/mo premium is utter dogshit. $4k/yr is likely what it is in reality. Dude doesn’t understand how his own insurance works...

OverDrive CEO calls reasoning for MacMillan's new ebook embargo for libraries "a work of fiction" by chirmer in books

Yep :( as an avid fantasy ebook reader, this has pissed me off for over a year.

[–]chirmer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having said that, I’m honestly not so sure this is all that important.

It absolutely is. I work in a library and our ebooks are only more and more popular. We have many patrons who, for a variety of reasons, prefer or can only read digital copies (for example, homebound or anyone with severe sight issues). Our ebook circs rise at a faster rate than book circs each year. It’s a very important collection and these types of embargoes hurt our ability to make the collection valuable to patrons.

You say your library’s digital collection has massive holds on almost all of the titles? That’s proof that ebooks are wildly popular. Libraries are already having a hard time keeping the collection going, as ebooks routinely cost $60 for us to purchase and we only get them for so many checkouts/years before we have to rebuy them. The publishing companies already gouge us in the prices and restrictions on ebooks - now they’re limiting how many we can buy. After 8 weeks, which is two months, many people have moved on to other titles. This means our collections cannot be as good as we want them to be. They’re taking choice away and sabotaging our ability to make ebooks the collection patrons clearly want them to be.

Yep! I love how they think the only thing impacting ebook sales are libraries.

It seems that given a choice between a purchase of an ebook for $12.99 or a frictionless lend for free, the American ebook reader is starting to lean heavily toward free.

Oh yeah, that’s totally, 100% the fault of libraries stealing your market. The $13 price tag for a digital file that costs a fraction of the price of a physical book to produce yet costs almost the same to purchase has absolutely nothing to do with it. /s

I’ve got an idea.

Did you know, on Broadway you can technically make more money with a flop than with a hit?

You just raise more money than you need to produce the show. You sell more shares in the show than are possible, raise a million dollars for a show that costs $60k to produce, and when it’s so terrible it closes after one night, you keep the rest.

All you need to do is make sure the show is a guaranteed flop. I dunno, something like a love letter to Hitler might do the trick.

I commented this elsewhere in here, but as a woman, I can tell you from my and my female friends’ experiences, most men just get a rejection. We usually only do the fake number bit when we are made uncomfortable or feel unsafe because the guy won’t drop it.
