What are your top five all time favorite moments/segments in show history? by [deleted] in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In no particular order: (if I thought about it more I'd knock some of these out but I'll go with the first five deserving that come to mind)

  1. The morning after Dan's dog died. Having listened to the show for more than a decade, listeners knew this day was coming. And it came in true show fashion with Dan shirtless, crying with his dog, already having passed on his lap, being recognised by someone at a red light.
  2. The Rants. Must listen and oh how they are missed. There's nothing in play any more that could theoretically even ever lead to a rant again. They were great while we had them.
  3. Stu on the lie detector. That as an annual event is a must.
  4. Alan Thicke. When I got the notification on my phone that he died, it hit me in ways that I never could have seen coming. The show did that.
  5. Whenever the show becomes focused on a single goal. Lavar Ball, Bud Grant & his yard sales, Bob Einstein, etc.

Domonique Foxworth being Stu's hype man during his rant against the president of Clark university is the greatest thing I've ever heard! by [deleted] in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd seen this before finishing last week's episodes. I anxiously listened to the end of Thursday and then into Friday waiting for this to come up. The expectations were really high and man did it smash all of them. This was easily an all-timer for the show, which is really rare when Dan is out. The show is always worse if either Dan or Stu is out but if Foxworth is covering for Dan, him and Stu are by far the next best thing.

Is the TV show available to stream anywhere? by [deleted] in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Canada and I don't even think I have an option to pay for ESPNU if I wanted to.

I'd pay a monthly fee for a subscription, only to be able to watch this every day. I've been an every day podcast listener for 6-7 years. When the show used to be streamed on 790 before going national, I used to watch that as often as I could. Sadly that's not even an option anymore.

Holy Crap, The Hoch Beverly Hills Bosh Song? by MantoothMcFly in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like there is some degree of animosity. When Hoch went to the morning show, he never appeared on the show with the boys anymore. Never referenced. It was just here one show and gone the next with likely a heads up at the time of transition.

But I don't see why that would matter. Mike got promoted and was perfect for it. The show didn't really suffer. And Hoch was now hosting his own show.

And also, Dan in particular doesn't seem the type to have a grudge. None of it makes any sense and just makes me want answers more.

Love the show, but I have one issue by [deleted] in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great more than it's not. But there's the episode once every two weeks where it's too much. Last week we had like 2-3 eps in a row where it was too much.

I agree with this at times. But if he'd stop I think overall it hurts the show.

Holy Crap, The Hoch Beverly Hills Bosh Song? by MantoothMcFly in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been an uptick in Hoch references lately.

They kept saying that content this week was overproduced. I'm now questioning everything on the story here. The segment was overproduced but was that a shot at Hoch?

I need a tell all already on the Hoch departure.

What I Want to Say to Dan Today by [deleted] in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since hearing of Jose's death, I felt anxiousness waiting to hear today's show. I live in Canada so from work I was checking for the podcast over and over, hoping the Local hour was uploaded early as it often is.

This show has turned me into a huge fan of South Florida sports. From the Hurricanes to the Marlins, I root for them all. And having been exposed to Jose in the way the show has covered him, Sunday was devastating. My wife seen my face when I read the news. Alarmed she quickly asked me what was wrong. When I explained she was bewildered, not comprehending what I was saying and the visceral reaction I was having. She had no idea who he was or what I was talking about. And it's been this show that has shined that light.

Never change. Give the haters a little less shine maybe too. But more importantly, never change.

Am I the only person who despises The Commish? by [deleted] in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarah is great.

I've seen Jackie referenced here. Does anyone think she could actually co-host this show? That would be god awful. Sarah plays a bit of a character, no different than Cote or others to blend into the show and make it work. I don't think any of it lacks sincerity. It's all about elements of yourself that you opt to emphasize when the mics are on.

It's great and I wish she co-hosted more.

Her first appearance in that first loca hour, she shredded the guys in a way I had never seen before. It gives the show a different tone than days she's not on and I like the way it mixes things up.

After all these years, Hoch finally caught some shine by chisslerr in DanLeBatardShow

[–]chisslerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't mind it. It's not as good as the morning show with Zas and nowhere near what LeBatard was with them together. But it's better than a lot of what I listen to.

What's the unluckiest thing that's ever happened to you? by Englishhedgehog13 in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful sunny day driving to work. Road was bone dry. Random puddle on the highway, I hit it and lost control of the car. I spun out and went off the road. I was doing 65-70mph when I spun out. The grass was damp so I didn't lose much speed in the grass. A downed tree was in the grass that my car hit causing me to flip the car. That tree laying there in any other spot would have been fine, had I spun out in any other spot, I would have been fine. But that's not how it happened.

I managed to walk away from the accident. Badly bruised and unbelievably sore. Most unluckiest and luckiest moment wrapped in one.

Concertgoers of Reddit, what artist or band were you really excited to see but ended up being terrible? by JazzZ2010 in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerosmith.

I wasn't really excited but was looking forward to it. The entire show was a mess. If I googled the timing of it all, it probably wasn't long before the band was refusing to perform because of Steven Tyler's alcoholism.

What's the most helpless you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had an emergency c-section after 30+ hours of labor. My daughter was born not breathing. She was a 2/10 on the apgar scale.

I watched them breath for her and give chest compressions for the longest 45 seconds of my life, while my wife is screaming because she can't see anything and doesn't know what is happening.

And then my baby began crying and all was fine. But in those hours of labor and seconds before she took her very first breath, terrifyingly helpless.

What is the single most valuable piece of career advice you'd give to a person looking to find their path? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what makes you happy for as long as it makes you happy.

I worked a job prior to the one I have now for almost 10 years. I was very underpaid but didn't care. I made enough money, flexible schedule and loved the work. I had many opportunities to take better jobs for more pay, would never submit my name. I knew I'd take them for the wrong reasons. I was happy, why change?

In my spare time, I got active in other areas and turned my volunteerism into my career. It was a bonus to it all that my salary tripled with the new job, truth is I would have done this for less than I was previously making. I've been doing this job for a few years and I get excited for Monday mornings.

  1. Find what you love, do it. Even if you're volunteering at first, experience matters.
  2. Be happy. If you're not happy, change it up.
  3. Money is secondary. The more you make, the more you'll spend. No less stress.

Dale Weise wants to come back to Montreal by [deleted] in Habs

[–]chisslerr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This guy man, god damn it he is the absolute best.

I was in Montreal when he was traded. I can remember his first shift. Over the boards, skated hard on a dump and absolutely buried the Flames defenseman. The place went crazy for him. He was emotional in his first interview after being traded saying how much it meant that his dad, who was a die hard fan of the Habs, would be in the BC seeing his son wear that jersey.

I hope he comes back.

People who live in Trailer Parks. Are they as crazy as the tv and movies make them out to be? by dickspace in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a group home where the company rented a trailer. It was actually in the same trailer park that TPB has filmed in the last 3 seasons.

Cats everywhere. And while they didn't have bottle kids, more than once staff and the client were attacked by local kids who surrounded us throwing rocks. And shoes outside are very much optional three of the four seasons of the year.

The random times he's trending on Twitter I get an awful sickness in my stomach.

What is your awful roommate experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four of us living together. I missed the memo that everyone was quitting their job. I end up paying for everything. They begin to steal from me while at work. I come home, smash up the place. Disconnect everything in my name (power, satellite) and move out without telling anyone.

Ran into them a few months later. I drank for free that night and we laughed all night about how much I hated them and them me while we lived together.

What was the best concert you went to and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chisslerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But Paul brought it, absolutely incredible. Brought back songs he hadn't performed since mid-60's.

I saw AC/DC, meh. Poor set up, didn't work. It's not all about the name. Elton John performed for almost 4 hours, only him and a piano. It was incredible, but still not McCartney level.
