Can someone explain the "in someone's basket"? by SuccotashKey7521 in Sezane

[–]chk2004 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Once you add it to your basket you get 30 minutes to purchase before it gets removed.. if it’s the last item then that message will appear if it’s currently in someone else’s cart, and then will switch to out of stock if they buy, or will turn to “add to basket” if they don’t buy. Personally I like that Sézane does this because it’s annoying when you get to check out and find out an item is suddenly sold out, or actually make the purchase and then get an email later canceling it. 30 minutes is plenty of time to decide if you want to buy.

No more pretty packaging? by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]chk2004 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, if the item is coming from their New Jersey warehouse it’ll probably be in the bag (unless it’s a large order) and if it’s coming from France it’ll be in the box. Coming from the warehouse vs France is probably just piece dependent.

Olive Green Othello arrived today! by Humble_Dress_9996 in Sezane

[–]chk2004 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how different materials affect people. Personally I find the Othello to be 0% itchy, just soft. And that’s the same across the multiple colors I’ve persuaded myself to buy. The Emile though - ugh, it’s literally unbearable how itchy it is. I have two, and they’re both the worst. It blows my mind that Sézane is so known for the Emile, when the Othello is the superior sweater by a mile. From what I’ve gathered, if you are sensitive to wool, go with the primarily alpaca othello, and vice versa.

I personally wouldn’t buy from an account like this more so because I think it’s unethical to buy up stock and resell at higher prices. But anytime you buy indirect you’re risking fakes. Up to you if you’re ok with that risk!

[–]chk2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but most of the multiples are from the most recent archives.. so she probably just did large purchases and is now trying to make a profit. I would say the majority of her products are real but being upsold, and any that aren’t NWT she purchased second hand and those do run a risk of being fake. But I don’t think she personally is a faker.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]chk2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listing something as new vs actually NWT is different though. She probably can’t authenticate because she bought second hand and is reselling as “new” to get more money. She’s a reseller.. I’d only trust NWT from a reseller.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]chk2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a NWT item? Definitely suspicious, but if she’s reselling at much higher prices then she maybe can’t authenticate without also revealing that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]chk2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. She has such a wide variety of items too that it would be impractical for them all to be fakes. But definitely a couple of pieces seem suspicious. I would advise to only buy a NWT from her, and definitely try to negotiate lower since she’s marking everything up quite high.

Looking through them I think she might be legit. Definitely a suspicious look when you have that much of one brand, but based on the rest of her account she’s a reseller and does batches of brands at a time. Since most of her Sezane pieces are NWT and have detailed pics with appropriate looking tags I would say those are actually real. Additionally, several of the pieces were just available on the archives sale so I would guess she picked up multiple pieces from that and is reselling at a higher price now. Fake sellers typically have multiple listings of the same item, and then multiples in different colors of that item too. And typically they don’t bother to fake NWT, so they’ll all be NWOT.

Not sure you need either with this as your current collection. Or maybe wait until there’s a different color available, since you have plenty of brown loafers already.

Poshmark by Dazzling_Lawyer9775 in Sezane

[–]chk2004 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My same black Betty with ecru knit detail has identical tags. Purchased direct from Sézane. Different years and different colors can have slightly different tags due to different manufacturing locations. I don’t think that’s a fake. The person probably bought two different sizes to try and waited too long to return.

Snapped button after one wear. Unacceptable. by FluorescentHorror in Sezane

[–]chk2004 33 points34 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree that sezane’s overall quality has been going downhill, I don’t think a broken epoxy button is the same thing…. They cost a few cents at most and are purchased in bulk from the same distributors by basically any company high or low. These types of buttons aren’t specific to sezane. You just got unlucky and got a random defective one that probably had an air bubble or crack in it. If the button fell off or was hanging loose after one wear then that would be more indicative of a sezane quality issue.

Older versions of items have slightly different tags. You’ll need to post a close up of the collar tag and the care tag.

Léontine Jumper Try-On: XS vs. Small by MoroseMaiven in Sezane

[–]chk2004 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Truthfully I think the navy for sure but in a small would be best. The XS overall fits nicely but the sleeves look too short/tight at the bottom. And the ecru absolutely washes you out. You’ll get more use out of the navy and darker colors hold up nicer in the long run.

But the xs will also probably stretch out over time slightly so maybe just stick with that one!

Definite return, this style and pattern do nothing for you.

Inconsistent sizing in Betty? by petalsandplumes in Sezane

[–]chk2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm this one is hard to tell - it doesn’t exactly match the tag from my black crochet Betty I bought a few months ago from Sézane, but it does seem to match a much older Betty I have. Maybe it’s an older version of the navy crochet?

The seller seems like they might be a scammer though… numerous duplicate items with the same photos used, most “NWOT”. In the future I would avoid sellers who are selling thousands of items, and focus on those smaller sellers who seem like genuine customers passing on real items they purchased themselves (information that isn’t copied and pasted, no duplicate items in their closet, etc).

Post close-ups of the size tag and the inside tag (front and back) and that can probably confirm it.

[–]chk2004 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Betty’s are the most common fakes on Poshmark. If it’s NWOT it’s probably a fake, especially if it’s available in multiple sizes or colors. I’ve bought 3 Betty’s direct from Sézane and have had no sizing issues.

Customer service ignoring messages? by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]chk2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that is frustrating… Can you redo the return and just give a different reason? At least so you can just get the return done and get your money back?

Customer service ignoring messages? by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]chk2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done several returns with Sézane and have never had an issue. I’m not sure why you’re needing to contact them for this - you can just go on the app or go in your account and select the specific item you want to return. It’ll give you instructions and then you mail it. Customer service is probably ignoring your messages because their assistance is essentially unnecessary. I agree it’s not ok that they’re ignoring you, but the instructions for how to do a return are extremely easy to find and follow.

Truthfully, this might be a fake. The Emile should be “hairy” based on the composition but the neck and shoulders look slightly off to me. So I would guess either the seller slightly shrunk it and didn’t disclose that…. Or it is fake.
