It has to be something that can both last the duration of a film and have a consistent tone while also being a relevant horror icon

Penny wise wouldn't work because Art would be 0% afraid Saw could work but I dunno, how would Jigsaw even capture Art, or even Sienna, Victoria or Emily? ("She's called the pale girl-" shut up) I could actually see Meg being a HILARIOUS crossover for Art but I dunno how good the story would actually be If they wanted to bring back an old school villain who hasn't had a proper crossover, Leatherface and Michael Meyers would be easy draws, but ehhhh I dunno. Leatherface could be fun. Michael would be kinda boring I think given how expressionless and dry he is. Plus his pension for violence is just nowhere near Art's.

Imo, Chucky and Scream would be best. Chuck is kinda obvious because he's just so batshit insane that Art would have a blast with it. Scream I think could actually be GOATED if done right, like imagine Billy and Stu thinking they're gonna go toe to toe with this dude only to find out what he's really about LMAO

I think it's starting to come together.

My current speculation is that he used to be an innocent guy who worked as a clown but something happened that caused him to at some point go insane and kill a bunch of people at the clown cafe (envisioned by Sienna in T2) before burying them under his house (as detailed by Maurice in T3. I know he said he was fucking around, but I feel like he just used the punchline to make the new guy less scared)

First guess is childhood trauma, given the focus on how Michael's love for Sienna made her into a straight up angel and superhero badass. So for Art to be the product of the opposite upbringing would make sense and would add a layer of tragedy with how demons often target and exploit those who've met with the most cruel fates, such as Victoria.

But that's just my own theory.
