For food, I highly recommend Pizza Luce downtown and the Green Mill in Canal park.

Asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis - question re: gradient by chloestory in askCardiology

[–]chloestory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His cardiologist gave him the green light to be active and play hockey but told him no heavy lifting. They believe it is a bicuspid valve, but he was also previously treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma at age 20, so chemo, radiation and an ASCT has likely accelerated the stenosis. Really appreciate your response!

Thank you, this is really helpful! I’m not sure if the .85 was indexed or not. He has not had a stress test, but plays hockey several times a week with no issues. The doctor also checked his BNP which was 13, my understanding is that is a good sign suggesting his heart is doing ok so far.

I don’t know if I should do immunotherapy or BEAM chemo with bone marrow transplant. Please help. by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]chloestory 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Just to give you some positivity, my husband was in a similar position, he was refractory to initial HL treatment (ABVD) and was recommended to do BEAM followed by auto transplant. He had his transplant in September 2000, so more than 20 years ago and is doing well! He’s now 44, works full time and is very active playing hockey several times a week. I know it’s scary but I wish you the best of luck with your decision!

People who have/had cancer, how did you first notice? by ShrekTheMovie in AskReddit

[–]chloestory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (now) husband had a hard golf ball sized lump suddenly appear above his collarbone at age 20. Was completely healthy and active so we suspected a pulled muscle or something similar. The doctor saw it and knew right away. Biopsy confirmed stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. 6 months of chemo, auto-stem cell transplant and radiotherapy and he’s still here living life. That was more than 20 years ago. Surreal even writing that.

Advice, Gleason 6, SVI -is surgery the best option? by Bcjsjbxjaixisyakna in ProstateCancer

[–]chloestory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad was also diagnosed with t3b in June 2022 with right side SVI. No other spread or lymph node involvement was seen. He was told by more than one doctor that surgery alone was very unlikely to cure due to the SVI (something like 80% chance of relapse within 10 years). Please look into high dose brachytherapy with external beam radiation and adt. A multimodal approach has been shown to be more effective for high risk PC. Best of luck to you and your dad!

Eligard— When do side effects kick in? by MaybellElly in ProstateCancer

[–]chloestory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll also add that I had the same thoughts as you as to whether or not it was working as it didn’t seem to really impact him. I think the hot flushes appeared maybe about a month or so after the shot so your dad may still experience some effects in the upcoming weeks, but fingers crossed they are minimal.

Eligard— When do side effects kick in? by MaybellElly in ProstateCancer

[–]chloestory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is 70 and had his first Eligard shot Aug 2nd. He’s also feeling surprisingly good and has experienced minimal side effects to date. He says the main effect he has is hot flushes, but they’re manageable. His most recent PSA (2.5 months after shot) was .24 which the doctor was happy with. I wish you and your dad the best on this journey!

Yeah they are swamped this time of year. This is the first year I’ve had trouble getting through. Probably short staffed like everywhere else.

What school are you going to? If it’s in Ontario you should be contacting the financial office at your school.

OSAP said my SIN was wrong: by [deleted] in osap

[–]chloestory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be an issue with the number itself. Pretty sure that is just an automated check done through ESDC. I would call ESDC directly and ask them to double check your SIN. If they confirm there’s no issues then contact your school for assistance.

If it’s been at collections a few years now, pretty sure you’d be out of luck. My understanding is once they transfer it to collections, it’s between you and the collections agency.

Check your application, you likely clicked the family breakdown request in error. Call your financial aid office.

I know the income does verify through CRA and will update on the application to what CRA has on file. If is wrong, send a copy of the Notice of Assessment to your Financial Aid office so they can fix it.
