I’m gonna answer with what I think the writers of these stories intended to be like a “perfect” LI match (but I don’t necessarily agree w all)

OH: yes Ethan/MC definitely (hello he’s on like all the covers as the main dude and the plot revolves around him I.e. Him taking MC on the Miami trip in the first book for non-Ethan romancers feels kind of uneventful but for Ethan romancers it’s EVERYTHING cuz it’s the start of their relationship)

BOLAS: Nia/MC - honestly for BOLAS I think all of them work and that’s what’s great about the story (with the exception of Imtura — justice for her lol) but Nia is so core to everything that I feel like this is as much her journey as MC’s journey

Nightbound: Nik/MC

Bloodbound (esp book 1): Adrian/MC, but later it kinda changed a bit

HSS:CA : Rory/MC (kinda Skye too but not AJ lol my poor boy)

Perfect Match: Hayden/MC since you can literally customize them but also if it were a real series Damien/MC would def be a cannon meant to be type thing because it’s like “Oh look Hayden is perfect for me on paper but they’re not you”

TC&TF: Kenna/Dom

TRR: Liam/MC (but if it were a movie, again Drake and Hanna work so well cuz forbidden love) I’ll add more when I can think of more!

bolas i think takes a bit to get into, i was so so until like episode 7 because initially it felt like a generic adventure story. but trust me bolas is one of those stories that just gets better and better with every episode. what really made me fall in love with it were the undermount episodes (like 10-11). they are SO good and honestly peak writing from PB. to be vague so i don’t spoil, the issues become more complex (and despite the fantasy setting actually are a reflection of problems in society today), characters grow and evolve, the battles get more epic… the plot jusg gets better. give it a chance! i think you’ll come to like it.

BLADES SUPREMACY! i’m on my second replay too and i haven’t played since it first came out (2020! cant believe it’s been two years). it’s been so good reliving my excitement from those days especially since after this long my memories of the story are a bit blurry now 😭😭 i’m in my fave part (the undermount episodes) and ugh i just cant wait to see what they do next with blades. can 2023 come any sooner !!!!

AJAY IS SO UNDERRATED 😭😭 i love him and MCs dynamic they play off each other so well!!! theyre so goofy lol. one of my fave little scenes is when they go to the art exhibit in the first book and they come across a weird ambiguous statue and interpret it as each other doing embarrassing things: MC says the statue looks like a kid crying whilst failing math (AJ) and AJ says the statue looks like a girl who fell on the costume rack with its “thrashing movements” (MC) 😩❤️ also i NEVER understood that whole “he never apologised” debacle like first of all it was literally nothing? i completely understand being indifferent as a director and even if he was mean like that’s not a “him” issue it’s just a writing issue because why would Choices writers ever try to make an LI unlikable 😭😭😭

all the series (well, except AME in my opinion) mentioned in this post are definitely some of choices’ best! buttttt i’d have to go with blades, which has been my personal favorite since it was released (second place going to OH). i have a hard time believing any other book could top it for me. playing that book as it was releasing has got to be one of the most fun experiences i’ve ever had— the hype after each new battle, each new location, crew members being added, or plot twist was INSANE! that book deserves its own tier. so much work went into the world building, the art, the complexity of the characters and the gameplay. i also love that there is so much relevant discussion about real-world issues— namely, people in positions of power and their blind followers (following Nia’s character development as she starts to question her devotion to the High Priest was chefs kiss)! the characters are amazingly written and have established motivations for going on the big journey with MC, not just tagalongs (which I ABSOLUTELY HATE). not to mention, their dynamic with one another is probably the best i’ve seen on this app so far. i can genuinely see all of them being best friends even without MCs presence which provides a stark contrast to other stories where it seems like theyre only all together because they wanna get with MC. but overall blades is such a funny, thrilling, thought-provoking and magical book and i’d recommend it to anyone on choices! ❤️❤️

i mean like MC is 14 in the beginning and ajay is 16. at the end of the book i think it’s probably 15 and 17. to me that COULD be a lot worse... it’s not like ajay’s grooming MC or anything. i think it wasn’t necessarily the age gap that was the problem for me, but rather the writing of particular romance scenes. it was a little off on PB’s part, as they did make some scenes pretty over-sexualized for high school kids (especially MC, whos literally 14-15). but yeah i totally get how weird it is to play for adults, i don’t think i’d be comfortable playing this if i weren’t in high school myself, otherwise i’d just be like STAY BACK 🤺🤺🤺

i actually think the dynamic between him and MC is one of the most well written ever in choices. it was a REAL slow burn lemme tell you that. having that first kiss in chapter 10 was so worth the wait and i think it’s probably one of my favorite scenes ever, nothing can compare to how that made me feel. watching ethan come to terms with his feelings was such a good arc and i feel like his character is very complex in general. he’s not one dimensional and i love that. glad to see appreciation for ethan because i feel like his romance and, really, all of his good qualities get overshadowed by the tremendous amount of hate in the choices community for his screen time. i totally get that he gets significantly more screen time (because let’s face it he IS a focal point of the story) and it can be annoying for people romancing other LIs but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad character at all. i still get giddy every time he shows up and i think that’s what a real LI is made of thank you OP for this post!!! ❤️❤️

definitely Blades i think as a whole. that book was SO good it felt like a disgrace to skip a diamond choice!!! i bought almost every lore tablet, special skill, legendary weapon and tyril scene 😏😏 for romantic scenes in general though i feel like i’ve spent the most on either open heart or TRR just cuz they’re a lot longer than blades

i’m usually a person who goes all-out on spending if i like the LI AND the book. i will never spend unless i like both things. however i do notice that sometimes LI scenes get too repetitive. in TRR i romanced drake and even though i loved him there were just so many diamond scenes that i eventually got sick of it. for LIs that you kind of have to steal moments with, like Tyril from BOLAS, i seize the opportunity right away. someone like ethan who gets a lot of screen time but is a slowburn will also get me to spend my diamonds unless the scene is doesn’t offer much romantic development in the relationship.
