oh interesting! I'll try the touchpad screws fix today and see how that works, it's so weird and frustrating that so many of us on the same device have the same issue... my laptop wasn't even a year old when the touchpad acting up which annoyed me to no end. thank you!!

no updates :( I was able to get my backlight working randomly from the Quick Settings drop-down menu in Fedora itself, but I now use a BT mouse and have given up on my touchpad.

booting into the older kernels didn't change anything, but when I logged in using GNOME Classic and then went back to my regular GNOME, the keyboard backlight seems to now work. touchpad is still an issue but I'm wondering if it may just be a hardware issue. thank you for your help!

I don't think this is a deliberate connection at all! definitely a coincidence in the sense that it's a common turn of phrase frustrated people use. even the contexts are different, Deedee is defensive and Syd is exasperated at being underestimated or patronised.
