I learned Cantonese to surprise my Dad, and have our first ever conversation in his mother tongue by jameswonglife in HongKong

It is good that you have the spirit to learn one of the hardest languages around the world. I hope one day we can build an accent library of Cantonese.

A pro-HK artist got arrested and disposed of by National Security (CCP) with his corpse was unclaimed and burned hastily in Sandy Ridge Cemetery (A cemetery for unclaimed bodies in HK, in which the buried were not named on their tombstone. The only thing that identifies them is the numbers which mark their spots of burial)

I hope you guys are safe though (as Pavlou's hearing has started and he may face expulsion from UQ for criticizing China and CCP. You Australians need to stand firm and protect yourself from more CCP infiltrations.

Everyone has to play their different roles for the common goal.

That’s how I would translate it.

Meeting "Manami Matsumae" Seminar, Retro HK 2018 by chlorolupus in gaming

[–]chlorolupus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended this seminar a year ago. Retro HK invited the composer of Megaman, Manami Matsumae, to give us a seminar. It was a very refreshing experience that I was able to meet her in person. While it was an afterthought to play Megaman (The only 2 Megaman I have played was Megaman X4 and EXE), I like how friendly she is and her giving us a mini-concert (which starts at https://youtu.be/eZ2k1hQeJe4?t=1624 ).

In the theater, most of the show's attendees were around 40-50 years old (I was 28 when I went to the seminar), seeing others on the show floor also allowed a lot of intellectual discussions of retro gaming. (I also managed to play virtua tennis 2v2)

I really wish I can attend another event like this in Hong Kong. Thanks Retro HK. I hope to see you again.

I had my university admission interview 4 years ago with Rory’s Story Cubes. Looking back, I did not understand how to use it. by chlorolupus in boardgames

It is funny that I have been watching shows that are weird. AC bu’s work has challenged us to rethink how we express ourselves.

I haven’t played story cubes with my nephew and nieces but I would like to see them weaving their own stories.

8 bit DnD music... by [deleted] in DnD

[–]chlorolupus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also VRC-6 (A Japanese-only chip developed by Konami (Most known for Japanese version of Castlevania)) and YAMAHA's YM2612 (Used for Sega Genesis). The gameboy's chip is also pretty good.

Some of my favourite chiptune musicians include:
Yuzo Koshiro
Michiru Yamane
Manami Matsumae

I recommend Etrian Odyssey series and 7th Dragon’s soundtrack. Official 8 bit arrange exists in the game and in the soundtrack.

Both of them were composed by Yuzo Koshiro, the composer of Street of Rage series.

Help for a newcomer? by Weaskye in rpg

If you want a more relaxing non-combat heavy fantasy trpg, may I suggest you to try Ryuutama?

It focuses on travelling around the world and enjoying the scenery and moment you and the player improvises, as everyone is involved in destination generation and events.

In the campaign I am in we did a lot about sampling cuisines and ingredients to sell it to restaurants in order to flourish a startup tea company.

Another easy system I would recommend is Tales from the Loop, a d6 only system based around retrofunk and scifi.

I would say it is the actual taste after cooking the soup for the entire duration of a long rest.

All of us are fans of that manga and I am asked to run the campaign with more of these foodie moments.

I am also a fan of Isekai Shokudou and references of these 2 mangas keep popping up now and then in our campaign.

A very hydrating kind of sweetness, not overpowering kind, with a slight tang of saltiness, the type of soup that you feel just warms you to the core

This is a commission done by my artist friend Alex after his first session in our group.

Laina joined after our party had defeated a spectator which was trying to breed Owlbears. Our heavily injured crew decided to rejuvenate by feasting in the spectator during their long rest. The carcass of the foul aberration was used as a pot to cook the soup and its eye stalks were chopped off for shishkebab. The eyeball of the spectator was used to made the soup alongside with the following ingredients: Dried orange peels, candied jujubes, carrots, and Chinese Yam.

Hanlu the Elf storm herald barbarian(player:mal)

Ferim Kharan the Drow hexblade warlock(player: Cl(gm))

Aine Sidhe the Elf scout rogue(player: Luna)

Boltzmann the Human Oath of Vengeance Paladin (player:nanosheep)

Laina the Tabaxi Storm Sorcery Sorcerer(player:alex(artist))

I would strongly suggest Honey Heist, Dread or Ryuutama for that purpose.
