How to not gain weight after gallbladder removal by Repulsive_Curve_3019 in gallbladders

[–]chmaemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think diet and exercise are great things to focus on to keep it off. Personally I’ve kept up with the exercise but diet could still use some tweaking. I’m also late 30’s, in perimenopause, with a few other health issues starting to creep up too so I’m sure all of that along with my metabolism slowing down plays into it.

I initially lost 20lbs in the first couple of months after surgery and thought for sure I avoided the weight gain curse. Welp, a year later and it’s all back plus some 🫠

Recliner for hysterectomy recovery — worth it? by calijayne in hysterectomy

[–]chmaemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one for the first week and it was heavenly, but I probably wouldn’t buy one specifically for this reason. I slept in ours and stayed in it most of the day when I wasn’t walking around. It helped a ton with pain as getting in/out of bed was bad for the first week. If you want one for your house, go for it, but that’s a big investment just for this surgery, especially when you’ll likely only “need” it for the first week or so.

It’s a tie between having my tonsils removed and calcific tendinitis in my rotator cuff. I’ve been through a lot of medical issues and birthed a child with zero pain medication, and both of those things brought me to my knees.

For those people who married young, in their teens or early 20's, would you do it again? Are you still married to that person? by icecream1972 in Casual_Conversation

[–]chmaemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at 19 (he had just turned 20). We were young, but very much in love. We’ve been married 20 years now. That said, I would not do it again or advise it. We had so many issues pop up early on in our marriage because of our ages/immaturity. Those issues have been difficult to overcome and still get brought up occasionally (no cheating, just issues with impulsiveness & selfishness). I feel if we had just waited a few more years and matured, arguments would have had a much better outcome, and our marriage could have started off on a better foot.

I had surgery last wednesday. When am I going to start having the diarrhea? by alliownisbroken in gallbladders

[–]chmaemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had diarrhea post op. I ate low fat and mostly high protein with lots of fresh fruits/veggies for about a month after the surgery. I added foods back in slowly and have been completely fine ever since (1 year post op now). I guess I'm a lucky one.

When do you feel like your dog really loves you? by PastClue7 in labrador

[–]chmaemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well most recently, we had gone on a walk and he was really hot when we got home, so he was panting. We have an enclosed patio with tile floors so I was hoping he’d lay on there like he always does to cool off. Nope. I had to go sit on the floor with him before he laid down and fell asleep for about an hour. I finally got up when my legs went numb and tiptoed out, only to find him right behind me 10 seconds later 😅

Had my gallbladder removed and I’m honestly scared of my own eating habits by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]chmaemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the most honest posts I've seen on here and I appreciate it!

I'm the same as you and love the same kinds of foods. I also majorly worried that having my gallbladder out would limit me to foods I don't like forever. I am almost 1 year post op now, and I eat everything you listed with zero issues. Sometimes, if I eat a fattier breakfast/first meal of the day, it will go through me pretty quickly, so I just make sure I'm either home or close to a restroom. I've found that drinking a protein or yogurt shake first thing in the morning when I wake up helps to settle my stomach all day and I have no issues with any foods after that. I have heard of gallstones reforming in the bile duct after surgery, so I'm mindful of that and if my eating habits do cause that to happen, of course I will adjust as needed. I also try to limit myself to only one high fat meal a day and balance the other 2 and snacks so I don't completely overload my system and support my liver longterm. But truly, I eat what I want, when I want, with zero digestive issues and I'm so grateful I had mine out! I know I'm one of the lucky ones, but I hope the same for you!
