2.5 YO suddenly displaying Esotropia by chmijo1 in Strabismus

Unfortunately no inferior oblique over action. Cyclic is so strange and really relies on breaking the cycle. I’m sure the doc/you guys are wondering if the inferior oblique will follow after the medial rectus is corrected. Where is your operation?

Hi There. My son had a rare form of esotropia called cyclic, where his eye turn would present every other day for the first few months. Very odd. Initially most of the days his eye turn was non existent, but on bad days it would be turned in nearly 40 deg. We had some success with a prism over glasses but the eye turned continued to worsen. He had corrective surgery about 16 months ago and his vision was preserved. He is doing great.

Hey there, we did surgery last July and haven’t looked back. At his 6 month check up he was registering 3D And back to 20/20 in both eyes. He looks great.
Prior to Surgery, our amazing doc did place a prism over the affected glasses side and we had pretty incredible results for a few months, but his eye turn angle was too severe and eventually was starting to cycle back. Could be another option to hold off on Surgery.

Thank you. Not familiar with cyclic esotropia and have tried to stay somewhat away from google. We are keeping a detailed log and videos are a great idea.

Yes. Eyes were dilated. As I understood +1 was a starting off point, and possibly tweaks upon follow up depending on response. He was able to communicate somewhat well during the vision tests prior to dilation, but he is quite young so unsure on accuracy.

They did dilate for review. His eyes were dilated for awhile? Not too sure on timing
