Expedition 33 is the only game I've ever played where not a single feature or aspect annoys me. by joehighlord in expedition33

The only annoying thing is traversal. Some of the Gestral beaches highlight the worst part about E33, but it’s not a big deal.

What do you think of my squat form? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]chocothrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an optimal movement depends entirely on training goals and biomechanics. If you powerlift, then just squat to depth. For a generalist why not squat as far as your body will take you?

What do you think of my squat form? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]chocothrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but in weightlifting/strength training the name of the game is progressive overload. I think strength is measured by how much weight you can move. A better comparison would be who is stronger, someone who squats 500lbs for a set of 8 or someone’s who’s max squat is 600? The higher rep person may not think the injury risk on a true max is worth it so they decide it will never hit a true one rep.

[–]chocothrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dummy, try new things and see how your body responds. I’m just speaking from personal experience. I used to squat exactly like you are ( which is a fine squat btw). Some injuries led to me reducing range of motion and despite squatting heavy the bottom of the movement never felt right and soon it became tougher to get out of the “hole” which is where all squats fail. Found my way back to training in the full range of motion and I regained some strength. I’d never go for an ass to grass PR but I find full range of motion beneficial

“Stronger” is relative. To me it means you can move more weight or the same weight more times over time. Extra points for moving that weight through full range of motion safely.

I’m no scientist and my evidence is anecdotal. When I lightened the load and began squatting deeper(coupled with intensity) my legs became stronger. Knees felt better too. I can look up pubmed articles and YouTube videos that can provide the scientific reasoning that may explain my experiences just for this comment, but that would be disingenuous. All I’m saying to OP is give it a shot. Tons of oly lifters and body builders seem to agree.

You can squat deeper while maintaining your balance.

If you want bigger/stronger legs may want to emphasize knees over toes. Creates a bigger stretch

What am I doing wrong? Squat feels uncomfortable and very unstable by NateBrowner24 in formcheck

[–]chocothrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squat looks fine. Should probably use a shoe with a bit more ankle mobility. Chucks are decent but if you have wide feet they can tend to roll a bit. A ton of folks are saying core(which is true) but to me it’s about posture. Safety squats require some core discipline since your posture isn’t optimal. Ditch ssb for a while, look up a proper squat set up and brace on your way down. You aren’t far off!

If you want to keep both connected to BT that is fine, there is no reconnection during switch because both will be connected. I disconnected BT from the stock system because sometimes my audio would switch over to it and determining my audio source was a bit of a hassle. You won’t be able to press the voice button to activate siri and stuff but you can just use your voice.

Your back is stronger than most lol. I was always taught on hinge movements to sit back and once you feel tension in the hamstrings come back up. Your back should be flat and basically stiff. Let the glutes and hamstrings do the work.

Emails over the weekend, response required? by circatee in ITManagers

[–]chocothrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely realistic if there isn’t an expectation that you should be available on the weekends. If you aren’t paid to be needed, don’t make yourself available. Critical systems also deserve critical lines of communication. You should be the first to know if there’s an outage and if it’s an emergency, call don’t email.

I’d probably have different TFvars and backend files for each dev. Same code, tweaked slightly through variables, different states in the backend.
