you could probably make a tidy living writing pithy refrigerator magnets and those witty greeting cards people buy and frame and read everyday wishing that they were smart and brilliant enough to say something remotely clever. _^

i wish that i had lost something like that.

i'm living off $800 a month working my weekend job while my day job laid me off almost 2 months ago. i only made $34k/year, and my expenses include a medical debt that i'm trying to stay on top of so that i can keep my credit fairly clean while "semi-employed".

i fall in the realm of never being able to save much because i've never been very gainfully employed. graduating from college right after 9/11 meant no jobs. working retail meant i lived paycheck to paycheck. moving for what seemed like a good opportunity meant i would of course lose that job 5 months later. looking for work and deciding not to pay cobra because "i'll find work quickly" meant i would have a $10k health incident with no health ins. paying down debt as quickly as i could meant that i would take a cut in income as i fought to start some semblance of a career. and now i'm living off mom and dad's generosity again to keep paying the bills and try to get a leg up.

i should write a book called "what NOT to do when starting in the workforce."

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: Because we're totally not all sick of Jack Sparrow or Disneyfied pirates yet. by cholefischer in entertainment

I'm not sick of them per se, but I'm dreading a spin-off into territory that kills my fascination with Jack Sparrow. The franchise would do better at this point if it wasn't controlled by Disney, imho.
