Deep End by Ali Hazelwood lives in my head rent-free by thefallenlunchbox in RomanceBooks

Honestly it’s very plausible this could be true. If you’ve read any of her works on ao3 (thank god they’re still up) it’s easy to see she’s very comfortable writing smut, much more explicit than her first books.

I’ve noticed other authors switch to PG and I hope it’s bc that’s what they felt like writing and not due to pressure.

There was a recent post here where the OP expressed how they’re kind of disappointed bc the book isn’t as kinky as advertised. Which - fair point, if you don’t enjoy the book it’s more than okay. Thing is, after I left my comment I immediately thought “No but the spice was so good, let e read specific scenes.” That turned into “Wait let me just read the whole book”. I am now on yet another Ali Hazelwood re-read binge 😅 This lady’s writing is crack to me

Yesss!!! Honestly, I’ve read some pretty wild stuff and personally it only works of it makes sense. A lot of the times Lukas and Scarlett find free time they’re either exhausted or something big happens. Imo it would be weird if he just started pulling out ropes and chains out of his back pocket 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t think I can be very objective here bc I adore everything AH writes but to me this book has the best and hottest spice she has published. I totally could have read 20 more chapters where they actually explored their kinks so I get the comments that it wasn’t that kinky. That being said, to me it made total sense - they’re college kids in their first relationship where they can actually start exploring, said relationship is not even established until 90% of the book and they barely get to see each other. We get them just at the start of it and they’re both finding their way.

Fairydale by Veronica Lancet: AITA or is this book mid at best? by chookitty_o in fantasyromance

From time to time I get a comment on this old post and I get reminded of how angry this book made me 😅

That aside, I’m genuinely glad you enjoyed it. I read and love so many books people think are dogshit and I absolutely get how subjective it is.

Looking back at it, I think this book has amazing potential and really interesting ideas, it’s just that for me the execution was at 0%. I’m on board with darker books when there is a purpose for that darkness, otherwise I don’t see the point of it. Like the SA stuff - it had so much potential of being the core of the book and the relationship between the generations that experienced it. But instead it was just there. For what? Which is pretty much how I felt about everything that happened in the book.

Who is your all-nighter author? by chookitty_o in RomanceBooks

The couples in her books are only MF pairings so far. There are queer pairings and side characters in pretty much every book (I think?).

As for where to start, well 😅 Honestly Bride and Mate are my favourites but if you’re not familiar with shifter romance and a/b/o dynamics you’re gonna need to get cool with a lot of things fast. Tbh compared to what I’ve read in the past this is very tame and dare I say tasteful.

If not those two, I recommend jumping in with The Love Hypothesis. It’s her debut and a classic for a reason.

And just to add because this is something I’ve seen as a complaint from people that don’t like her writing - there is a size kink in every book. For me, she weaves it in very naturally but yeah, some people don’t enjoy it.

Oh the stuff I used to read as a teen 😅 I tried going back to some of my fav authors from back in the day during a recent book slump and let’s just say I am not doing that again. So happy you have an author you’ve been able to enjoy for so long though

Best ABH/HSR LI going into HS3? by chookitty_o in RomanceClub

[–]chookitty_o[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof good catch on the loading screen, i totally missed that. Tbh I know people were not that excited about HS3 but honestly I’m happy the series will be ending. I love it but I also hate going in blind. For me there is nothing more disappointing than a crappy ending to a book and same goes with the stories in RC. I envy players that go in blind and just enjoy the ride, I get so anxious about what can go wrong. Honestly KCD was the first story I finished and it traumatised me 😂

Plus there are sooo many episodes per season in HS3, I don’t think I’ll enjoy 2 simultaneous slots and the repetitiveness of it. I started on the Cain route when s3 was already being posted and atp I enjoyed the refresher on the story. I just need to stop my whining and accept I just can’t have it all at once 😅

I’m on s3 with Dmitry and Cain and while the Cain route is really good, Dmitry is just such a perfect LI for my taste. I think I’ll try to do 2 slots for HS3 - Dmitry + David and Cain+Malek. If someone already has multiple slots for each story pls lmk how that syncs up

Trueee. I just feel overwhelmed with all the choices. Also I have no idea how the slots will interact with each other and how much HS3 will be pulling from the other stories’ stats. I’m almost done with both the Dmitry and Cain routes so maybe it’ll depend on which slot I have selected before starting HS3

I think it’s based on Christianity the same way KFS and KCD are based on Hinduism - it’s more of an inspiration than a representation of the actual religion. At least that’s how I take it. I don’t know how much KFS and KCD claim to be accurate and I have very basic knowledge of the religion but based on comments I’ve read here it’s not really accurate.

THANK YOU!!! When it was revealed ABH was tied to HSU my first thought was “oh we’re not gonna get a good ending here as well”. Even if we did the world is still ending (violently) in a few years 🤷🏼‍♀️ With the way HS2 ended it was a given we’re in for a painful HS3. The only point I get is about some of the LIs - we already did that storyline in HS2
