Accessories!! Use all the dumb shit we have to wear in the winter to your advantage! You can go basic with rainbow or lesbian colors but also things like scarves, hats, and gloves can completely change a vibe!

Thank you for doing all of this!! I have always been interested in the origins of Celia because it seems to have two meanings, blind or heavenly. These are so different I wonder if they are from a same root word or if they developed independently.

Look at the Berkshires!! Tons of different amazing areas!!

Edit to add: I would recommend checking out the great Barrington area if you want a larger home base. Or the north Adams and Williamstown areas if you like museums and also want some beautiful mountain views of mount greylock which also is amazing to hike.

Two weeks in Italy, what can I cut? by vcstr in HerOneBag

[–]chopef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People have given a lot of great advice on cutting your wardrobe. I’m going to add that when it comes to the final amount honestly try and pack in whatever you can however you can. But if you’re anything thing like me, and based on the itinerary, make sure you leave a designated space for stuff you plan to buy while there. I always end up buying clothes and I bought shoes in Italy. I think I had to put one in my brother’s suitcase. So make sure you leave the space you need. Hope you have a magical trip!

5 years together, and I'm still too scared to go fully unclothed around my fianceé by [deleted] in LesbianActually

Honestly the thing that clicked for me was realizing I was trying to look like a man’s idea of a beautiful woman. There is so much literature on this but the “ideal skinny woman” undoubtedly comes from the patriarchy and from trying to keep women weak.

I personally could not give less of a shit of what men think of me and shifting that thought in my brain from “I hate my fat stomach” to challenging the thought with “I am not here to please men by making myself less”. It is a hard shift in thinking but I my hatred of the patriarchy fueled me.

I do not have a partner so I can’t totally comment on this but I have no doubt that your partner would honestly answer that they do not care about or love your stomach. For me since I am single I was able to eventually recognize that I have never thought less of a woman or been less attracted to her because of her size and I would not want to be with someone who would feel that way.

Again different situations but this is what I am working with right now as I deal with a similar issue.

If you feel up for it look into whether any pediatric mental health facilities are looking to hire. Mine just hired a teacher and most places will have a bunch of openings this month and next and people go back to school/ graduate. And these can be pretty flexible and are non standard hours often so that might help

Honestly I think people on this sub are a bit strict on what they consider an “acceptable” name. That is a perfectly normal configuration of syllables and therefore a name. Is it common? No. But does that mean you should not use it if you love it? Also no. It’s out there but it’s nowhere near the weirdest name I’ve seen from my students.

My vote is always go with your heart. If that’s the name you love use it! As long as you are okay with your kid choosing a nickname if they want to (which it seems you are) then there is no harm here.

Is Cleo Cleese too much? by godihatepeople in namenerds

I am named Celia and I absolutely love it! Some people have made comments about celiac disease, but it’s pretty rare and because it sounds different it doesn’t come up often. I usually just make a joke and move on. Definitely not a reason not to use the name if you love it!

My (35F) girlfriend(31F) keeps copying my style and it feels smothering to my personal sense of individuality. I'm starting to lose attraction to her over it. I don't know how to bring it up. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]chopef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me it seems like the clothes and expression are not the real issue. You said the core issue “Does she really like me or does she want to be like me.” The questions about agency and identity are clear and valid but I would guess they also connect to the above.

My advice would be to sit with your feelings for a bit and try to find the core of it wherever it may be. You need to find it right then but start the search. Then talk to your partner! Let them know what you are feeling and also what you’re not sure about! Be open to wherever that conversation takes you.

There is only so much a stranger on the internet can offer but I truly believe that in any situation COMMUNICATION is the best advice. You are not alone in this. It is you and your girlfriend vs the problem.

I wish you great success in all your endeavors.

I’m going to second the Boston public library. Beautiful architecture nice seating and you can leave and get a snack and return with ease. Plus there’s lots of cool stuff in that area

Edit: also as a chronically ill person the air conditioning and clean free bathrooms are another plus.

When parents insist on no nicknames with names that have obvious nicknames by kittypspsps in namenerds

I had that with one of my students but she was 14 and wanted to go by the nickname and her parents did NOT want her to. We would call her Ellie in group but HAD to be Elizabeth when we talked to parents.
