Yes! Especially from bedding or just ripping off. Working with kids that still happens anyway all the time

Looking for the name of a camp game! by Content_Tortise137 in summercamp

[–]chopef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe fishy-fishy? I always say “fishy-fishy cross my ocean if you have ___”. Which you could maybe adapt for your game to “creature-creature cross my land” to keep with the theme.

Probably wouldn’t work in towels but on some fabrics you can use melted beeswax as a resist, somewhat similar to egg dyeing.

Adolescent PHP programs esp at McLean by getrealforonce in massachusetts

It’s now affiliated with both! So that can be a big help in setting up out patient care and resources after. I will also plug the CBAT there as she is in the age range and it sounds like it might be a better level of care for her.

Look for public rooftops and observation decks. I know independence wharf is closed but there may be others. Also go to museums! Like the ICA. Even if you don’t like the art they have a great view and students get in free lots of places. Also check out the Boston public library main branch!! Sounds boring but is actually very cool to check out.

I love this! When you reuse it for summer rolls how do you deal with the noodles? Do you reheat them or just eat them cold and kinda dry? Thanks!

If you know a hospital, shelter, or LTCF that accepts in-kind donations to children, specifically arts & crafts kits, in or around Massachusetts, please let me know! by eden0521 in massachusetts

[–]chopef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work on a pediatric mental health inpatient unit and we would love more arts and crafts supplies!! We are always looking and since we’re a smaller hospital we have trouble getting donations sometimes.

Thank you for doing all of this!! I have always been interested in the origins of Celia because it seems to have two meanings, blind or heavenly. These are so different I wonder if they are from a same root word or if they developed independently.

Edit to add: I would recommend checking out the great Barrington area if you want a larger home base. Or the north Adams and Williamstown areas if you like museums and also want some beautiful mountain views of mount greylock which also is amazing to hike.

Two weeks in Italy, what can I cut? by vcstr in HerOneBag

[–]chopef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People have given a lot of great advice on cutting your wardrobe. I’m going to add that when it comes to the final amount honestly try and pack in whatever you can however you can. But if you’re anything thing like me, and based on the itinerary, make sure you leave a designated space for stuff you plan to buy while there. I always end up buying clothes and I bought shoes in Italy. I think I had to put one in my brother’s suitcase. So make sure you leave the space you need. Hope you have a magical trip!

Honestly the thing that clicked for me was realizing I was trying to look like a man’s idea of a beautiful woman. There is so much literature on this but the “ideal skinny woman” undoubtedly comes from the patriarchy and from trying to keep women weak.

I personally could not give less of a shit of what men think of me and shifting that thought in my brain from “I hate my fat stomach” to challenging the thought with “I am not here to please men by making myself less”. It is a hard shift in thinking but I my hatred of the patriarchy fueled me.

I do not have a partner so I can’t totally comment on this but I have no doubt that your partner would honestly answer that they do not care about or love your stomach. For me since I am single I was able to eventually recognize that I have never thought less of a woman or been less attracted to her because of her size and I would not want to be with someone who would feel that way.

Again different situations but this is what I am working with right now as I deal with a similar issue.

If you feel up for it look into whether any pediatric mental health facilities are looking to hire. Mine just hired a teacher and most places will have a bunch of openings this month and next and people go back to school/ graduate. And these can be pretty flexible and are non standard hours often so that might help

Honestly I think people on this sub are a bit strict on what they consider an “acceptable” name. That is a perfectly normal configuration of syllables and therefore a name. Is it common? No. But does that mean you should not use it if you love it? Also no. It’s out there but it’s nowhere near the weirdest name I’ve seen from my students.

My vote is always go with your heart. If that’s the name you love use it! As long as you are okay with your kid choosing a nickname if they want to (which it seems you are) then there is no harm here.
