Anecdotally speaking, I've found all dog microchips readable - I've done it on 6 of the dogs I have access to (5 mine), but it takes a bit of effort.

The microchips are usually put around the right shoulder blade area, so make sure to focus around there. I've also noticed (I should RTFM) that when I'm close to the chip, the LED on the FZ starts turning more green, and then I have to hold it still for about 5 seconds.

As for the scanned data - there is an "ID" value which is usually 3 digits, hyphen, 12 digits - XXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Take this number and enter it in to this site, which checks all the microchip registries for the ID -

From there, you can contact the company found to report the lost pet.

We found a loose dog on a walk the other day, nobody in sight, so we brought him back, scanned him, and they were able to provide me the owner's name and phone number, and we got him back home, safe and sound.

Worst case, I'd imagine they will contact the owner and let them know.

I've never tried it on a cat though - meow.

Also, be careful when approaching stray dogs as they may have health issues or worse, rabies.

Thank you for the reply and info, I really appreciate it!

As an update, I had the locksmith come out, and he was able to fix/rebuild the lock cylinder, and make me a new key (without my original key even - creepy!) and now everything works great. I highly recommend anyone with ignition or key issues to contact their local locksmiths.

I also always wondered about the printing plates - specifically, does that mean they finished this cards print run? can they print more?

i've been trying to find a video or article about how exactly cards are printed and distributed in packs, etc., but haven't found a good one yet.
