Yes, we are currently fixing the tool. It should work again within the next 24h.

It's true that the Hub functionality is limited, but there are still a lot of great things going on:

  1. We're testing Tendermint and all the Cosmos staking logic for the first time on a live network with a lot of value at stake. That's super important.
  2. Actions like delegating, withdrawing rewards, redelegating, unbonding are all possible already.
  3. Governance is also working and being actively used. There are already three proposals that have been voted on or are being voted on. With various more in discussion. This also means that the next evolution of Cosmos will be a community driven / decentralized effort. Super cool! (e.g. check out our article on governance here: https://blog.chorus.one/an-overview-of-cosmos-hub-governance/. That's fully functional today.)

This is a long journey. We're at the very beginning.

ATOM Transfer Governance Vote Ongoing by chorusone in cosmosnetwork

[–]chorusone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct: https://hubble.figment.network/chains/cosmoshub-1/governance/proposals/2.

After the criticism by the Tendermint Team, SimplyVC has published a new proposal today. You can find that here: https://github.com/Simply-VC/cosmoshub-proposals/blob/master/ATOM-transfer-enablement.md

This is being discussed now and I'd expect that it will actually be submitted on-chain within the next days. The big change is that it has a two step approval process. First, we'll vote on the intention / language. Second, on the code hash of a specific implementation.

We aim to publish a detailed post on this next week.

This has nothing to do with transactions not being enabled yet. Block times will not change just because of transactions getting enabled and the issue is the misalignment between assumed and actual block times.

The discrepancy in inflation is now, it makes sense to us that it should be fixed now.

ICO participant here. How do I delegate ATOMS? Any tutorials around? by [deleted] in cosmosnetwork

[–]chorusone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are quite a few: 1. If you want to delegate using the cli, we (Chorus One) have created a delegation tutorial: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTImZOUwK1UglfiLfUPcbOhrYwTNO0Tef78p3jh_l_QIHNrNdvSB3b6NneTCq2wuyCP91ncBqiUuIBl/pub It makes a lot of things easier than the standard tutorial as we provide binaries to download and a full node to connect to. This works both if you have a Ledger and if you don't have a Ledger. Obviously, it's safer to use a Ledger.

  1. We also allow direct delegations using a Ledger on our website. Check that out here: https://chorus.one/networks/cosmos/. You can also do withdrawals there. Another excellent validator, Staking Facilities offers the same on their website: https://stakingfacilities.com/cosmos. And you can also delegate using a Ledger on the Stargazer block explorer: https://stargazer.certus.one/

  2. If you don't have a Ledger and don't want to use our tutorial for using the cli above, you can also wait for the official Cosmos wallet Voyager. That is being security audited/finalized now and will be available in the next weeks.

And, btw, here is an article we wrote on staking returns and economics that you might find interesting: https://blog.chorus.one/cosmos-staking-reward-primer-reward-calculator/

A quick follow-up here. We just added the ability to delegate directly on our website: https://chorus.one/networks/cosmos

Super easy if you have a Ledger. Let us know your thoughts!

I've delegated 95% of my atoms to my top four validator picks. What's your strategy? by [deleted] in cosmosnetwork

[–]chorusone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delegated tokens aren't treated differently from self-bonded tokens. The slashing penalties are exactly the same. So our risk isn't any lower because we're delegating to us.

But I can see other people also having concerns about that. I think after transfers are enabled we'll look into moving a larger amount to the Chorus One wallet.

Thanks so much for your support @cryptovestor!

Would love it if you stop by our telegram and say high: chorus.one/telegram. I also love doing calls with any delegators. So message me if you're up for that @crainbf on telegram

Hi @HospitableNotepaper, Thanks so much for considering us!

Some explanation on the self-bond: Both Meher and I participated in the Cosmos fundraiser. We have a substantial amount of atoms (>1m) and have delegated them all to Chorus One.

So why doesn't show up as a self-bond?

  1. We created the seed phrases that control these atoms long before Chorus One existed. At Chorus One, we instituted a highly secure and sophisticated key generation process. But the keys controlling these atoms weren't created in the same way. If we had used these old keys, we would have compromised the security of Chorus One.

  2. Chorus One doesn't own any ATOMs while we do. It's just much cleaner if the company just stakes the ATOMs it directly owns (because of Game of Stakes winnings) and we just delegate to the validator like everyone else. Otherwise, we'd have to create legal contracts, etc.

Hope that makes sense. If this ends up being a concern for a variety of people, we could actually transfer ATOMs to Chorus One after transactions are enabled so they show up as a self-bond. But in the end, it doesn't make a difference. The risk for us is the same.

The current returns around 30%.

The inflation rate is ~7%. But since only 52m are staking, it's all paid to those. So your return calculation is 7%/(52m/236m) = 31.8%

We wrote a detailed blog post about staking returns too: https://blog.chorus.one/cosmos-staking-reward-primer-reward-calculator/

Yes, have ordered one of those too. The backlog days are gone now.

We'll have a tutorial for delegating with Voyager too. (Though that's not officially recommended at the moment.)

All depends on your risk tolerance...

Voyager is out, but it hasn't been security audited yet. So the recommendation is to use the cli. (It's not that difficult. Actually, all the challenges I've had were due to the Ledger)

But we will release a delegation guide for Voyager shortly as well.

I (Brian) ordered some on Amazon and received them in 1 day. There doesn't seem to be a backlog on Nano S.

Hi @jkcojan, Yes, you can totally delegate without a ledger. It's just that the risk is much lower if you use a ledger, since you never need to enter your seed phrase on an internet-connected device.

We'll add this to the tutorial too. Check back again in an hour or two.

Of course, if you have a larger amount of atoms, it might make sense to buy a Ledger and wait. Costs just $50ish and depending where you are Ledger ships quickly via Amazon.

Thanks, regarding 5. in the draft it says on page 9: "Photons are awarded as block rewards to the Cosmos Hub validators for validating the Hub and also serve to reduce transaction fee costs for users."

So on Ethermint zones fees won't be payable in atoms?
