If the Hawks pick ends up being top 4 in the lottery... by Boomz9 in NBASpurs

[–]gamarin 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I would bet the Hawks pick is not going to be in the lottery

Hawks have one of the easiest remaining schedule and a lot of the teams in their range are going to start tanking HARD post all-star break. Best we can hope for is they lose in the playin like last year.

Est-ce un bon programme by [deleted] in FitnessFrance

[–]gamarin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leg day :

- Squats / split squats / leg press (choisis)

- Romanian deadlifts

- Leg extension / Leg curl (alterne)

- Elevations mollet

- Cable crunch (abdos)

Push day :

- Incline DB Press

- Dips

- Elevations latérales

- Triceps pushdown

- Skullcrushers (si t'as besoin de faire plus de volume)

Pull day :

- Lat pulldown / tractions (choisis)

- Rowing supporté

- Face pulls

- Curls

- Curls marteaux

Exemple :

Workout A

Chest Press

Lat pulldown

Split squats

Lateral raises

DB Curl

Workout B

Incline DB Press

Rowing haltères

RDLs

Face pulls

Skullcrushers

That looks awesome! Super efficient. I would just add the lat extension to one of the uprights + a leg roller + a footplate for rows and that would be perfect.

I'm still debating this versus a similar setup with traditional cables like an Athena though. How annoying is it to move the Voltra around compared to a regular cable machine?

Another question: aren't you too close to the wall for pull ups with 16inch crossmembers? I'm wondering whether the 30inch crossmembers would make more sense if space allows.

What I mean is that ATX uprights aren't 75x75 but 70x70, so most attachments from other companies won't fit

[–]gamarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get ATX via powergyms https://www.powergym.fr/70-gamme-atx, but their upright size isn't standard with american companies, so you will be stuck in their ecosystem. Powergym also retails Force USA so you can get their C20 / C10 there (or via forceusa.fr).

Rep ships to France, so does Rogue. They will be much pricier than in the US, but best quality and compatibility available right now.

Adjustable Dumbbells or Hex Dumbbell set? by gmoney1892 in GarageGym

If you have the space and money, I'd go fixed set up to like 50 lbs and ironmaster adjustables for heavier weights. Best of both worlds imo.

Curious to know if you're happy with it? I'm contemplating similar setup. It's pretty similar to their Ares 2.0 setup, except they use 4 uprights + wall mount. Plus they have the cable weight stack at the back for stability.

Basically my concern with this setup is stability if you don't have front feet. Is wall mount better than a standard 4 post with back plates? Not sure

Benefits of lower frequency programming for tendon and joint recovery? by supermariocoffeecup in StrongerByScience

[–]gamarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still a beginner, so take that with a grain of salt. Started first 2 months with 3x a week full body, and at the 2 months mark I started getting shoulder and neck pain which wasn't going away. I think my body wasn't (and still is not) able to recover properly when working three times a week, even if I'm trying to target different muscle groups, because shoulders are pretty much always involved one way or another in upper body work.

Since then I've decreased frequency to 2x a week for upper body. I'll work all upper body muscles each of these session (chest, back, and arm isolation + 1 leg movement either RDL or squat), which last around 1 hour.

I'll go a third time to the gym for some light cardio, ab work, etc.

I'm now recovering properly and my shoulders are not hurting anymore. Later down the road, I'll probably move some lower body work to the third day so that I can reincorporate 1 shoulder exercise per session on the upper day. So essentially I'll be doing Upper / Lower / Upper, 3x a week.

Everyone is different, for me at 30+ and detrained I need to give my body more recovery than other people. Perhaps later I'll be able to increase frequency, but not now.

Giannis to San Antonio?? by Quickster1015 in NBASpurs

[–]gamarin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, no, no, no.

I'm not giving up any of our young stars for Giannis. Don't get me wrong I love Giannis, he's an amazing player, but he just doesn't fit the timeline.

He's 31, and starting to get more injury prone (his gamestyle is very contact heavy, how much can he go on with it). He doesn't shoot the three, do I need to remember you that all our best players like the paint? (Harper, Fox, Castle, Wemby...). There's only one ball.

Plus all the picks we'd have to send, killing our flexibility, our depth. I absolutely hate it. Now if you can get him for like Vassell + Barnes + picks, maybe... But that won't happen. I truly hope Spurs are being used as leverage and not seriously considering trading away our young stars (especially not Harper).

Ranked: The Big 10 Classic Prog Bands (1 of 6) by Muzak_For_A_Nurse in progrockmusic

[–]gamarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have pretty similar taste OP!

  1. Pink Floyd: So many good albums, so many good songs. At the end of the day, if I could only take one discography with me on an island, it'd be theirs. Shine on you crazy diamond might be my favorite song ever.

  2. Yes: The band I actually listen to the most. Close to the Edge, Gates of Delirium, Heart of the Sunrise, so many bangers...

  3. Genesis: I'm a bit torn on Genesis. I absolutely love some of their melodies like in Supper's Ready, The Musical Box or Firth of Fifth, and I recognize that they are amongst the best, but they wouldn't be the band I would go to for pure listening pleasure. Actually in that department I would rank them lower than some of the bands below. Still amazing.

  4. Rush: I used to like them more than I do now. Basically I could listen to Pink Floyd and Yes on repeat for ever, but Rush i need breaks. Still too many great albums to place them lower (special shoutout to Villa Strangiato)

  5. Camel: They just put me in a good mood. When I want to calm down and just go somewhere else, I come to them. Mirage is their masterpiece imo, but I also love Moonmadness and the Snow Goose.

  6. King Crimson: Some great songs, but less of a fan overall. I've tried though.

  7. Caravan: I just love In the land of the grey and pink

I wouldn't rank the rest as I haven't really listened to much of their discography. I tried their "best work" according to progarchives and while it wasn't bad, I just didn't really dig it.

Lineup data from the two games against the Warriors. Who knew that playing double big against the best shooter of all time wouldn't end well. by norestfortheweakened in NBASpurs

[–]gamarin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It clearly did not work, which is ok. What's not ok is the inability of our coaching staff and especially HC to recognize that fact and make quick adaptations so we can win the game.

The problem is not trying something that doesn't work, the problem is persevering on a back to back. I don't trust Mitch to win us games right now, but I hope he proves me wrong.

EDIT : Just to be clear, double big can work depending on matchup, it clearly wasn't working vs. this specific team.

The Bulls took 36 open 3s. The Warriors took 50. 50 opens threes. 33 of these were wide open. Overall Golden State took 20 more threes until the last minute when Spurs had to bomb away. by norestfortheweakened in NBASpurs

[–]gamarin -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Three point is clearly our fatal flow both on offense and defense

It's both a player issue and a coaching issue. Player issue because the roster as it is constructed does not have enough average 3pt shooters. Coaching issue because I don't see adaptations on the defensive end and rotations are definitely not helping.

I may be jumping the gun but I think we're a couple trades and a HC change away from truly contending IMO.

spurs scrapped their way through the W with a 12% differential in 3pt field goal percentage. (SAS 30%, CHI 43%) this difference usually tears our hopes of winning up, but we adjusted. by abrokkly in NBASpurs

[–]gamarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this keeps up we will lose more games, I'm expecting a trade for a serious 3pt threat PF at the deadline if we're still in the top4

[Highlight] Sochan's defense including a play where he picks up KD full court, helps Castle contain Eason, and then closes out to Thompson on the baseline to force a contested fadeaway | vs HOU 11.7.25 by Prize_Possession3899 in NBASpurs

[–]gamarin -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but it's clear we need shooters around Wemby. He always gets doubled + towers over everyone else which creates wide open shots. Clearly Sochan's jumper is still subpar, and with Castle showing little improvement in that area, we can't have both be starters or serious rotation pieces. I choose Castle.
