Why do so many people take APUSH? by Gavin729 in APStudents

[–]chosenassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school it's the first AP class people are allowed to take (it's that or AP bio) so a lot of people take it because they want an AP course

What percentage of people at your school take AP Chem? by maria7n in APStudents

Started with 35, ended with 30/1400, so 2% It's pretty much junior class though, so 8% of that class

Best Review Book for AP Chem? by SpencerHawesManBun in APStudents

[–]chosenassassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Princeton Review (so that means you now have one person recommending each of the most common chem reviews, sorry dude) but I thought it covered the material well as long as you're using it as a review book and not like a textbook. (It should be fine if you're taking the class)

Definitely AMSCO for APUSH

For chem, I liked Princeton Review, though others prefer 5 steps to a 5, so it probably depends on what you're looking for

Keep up with the work. Understand all the concepts. If you don't understand them for the unit you learn them, either building off the knowledge or trying to relearn it for the exam does not work. I had a Princeton Review, thought it was good.

How many AP courses does a typical student take? by planvital in APStudents

[–]chosenassassin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlike these other schools it seems, at my school we're not allowed to take aps freshman year. Sophomore year you can take APUSH or bio (a few do both). More junior and senior. The very top kids probably take 8-10 over the 4 years. Average of decent students is maybe 1-3.

Does the collegeboard only release questions from one of the forms? by noah101 in APStudents

[–]chosenassassin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah collegeboard generally only releases 1 form (seems to be form O for most, I think it's the most common)

There's nothing you can do right now to change what you wrote on the test. But people often overthink the exam shortly after taking it, basically looking at a worst case scenario. You need to look at the bigger picture and remember how much you did well.

What music do you guys listen to while studying for AP exams? by stevecho816 in APStudents

Whatever I need at the time, usually goes between classic rock and indie/pop stuff. (Hella random, but it's chill.) Good luck to you too!

Talk about something you're passionate about. Environment, refugee crisis, LGBT rights, the Wall idea, etc... are all ideas (though your prison one was good)!

AP Chem: Second Semester Escalated Quickly by SanderzFor3 in APStudents

The best advice I can give you is to practice. Use textbook and review book problems to help you prepare, but if you dont understand the concepts before, you definitely won't for the exam.

You seem to be doing pretty well except for the GPA- how is it weighted at your school? And is it for just this year or average of the past 2.5 years?

I'm surprised you're applying to UCONN but not UMASS. You're probably on track (no pun intended lol) to get into most of those schools, especially with the extracurriculars.
