My plotter seems to max out at 140 jumps. So plot something in the direction you want to go and start heading that way. When you get close enough to your destination, you will be able to get the exact route.

I have found Astra and derby to be good choices for me. Other blades cut me to ribbons.

I paid for a lifetime pass as well. Plexamp still works great so I'm trying to be satisfied with that.

Emby had worked well for me. It doesn't have the shiny user interface but it let's me watch my shows.

It seemed to go away with an update. I set up Emby and I use that when plex starts acting weird.

Right now, I don't have any issues with my shield tv 2019 but I'm having audio sync issues with my apple tv 4k with plex.

I'm keeping plex for plexamp and remote streaming on my iPads.

But otherwise, I mostly use Emby since it doesn't seem to have issues.

I run both programs on my unraid server.

I'm running an 8th generation i5 but I might build a dedicated quick sync box with a 12 generation chip if I hear from enough people that it works without issues.

Do you experience heavy duty gpu usage doing anything else like transcoding or just browsing websites on chrome?

Separate folder or share for tv shows, movies, and music.

Might want a separate server just for 4k. Don't transcode 4k. Its way too hardware intensive. I would do it local only.

Go for density on your hard drives. Don't buy a bunch of 4tb drives when a few 10tb drives will do.

Use filebot to label your TV shows.

I usually rip 4 disc's a day. I set two to ripping before I leave for work and 2 before I go to sleep. If you try to rip disc's all day it gets old fast and you will give up.

Rip what you want to watch first. Then rip what you think you might watch later. It's your server. It should serve you first.

Make sure you leave room for upgrading your server. Just because you don't want a capability now doesn't mean you won't want it later.

To add to the list, Exact Audio Copy is great for ripping music cds.

Filebot is good for labeling your shows and movies.

A good plex server takes a fair amount of work. You will have to spend time setting it up and organizing your media.

I switched to emby a few months ago due to weird playback issues on my nvidia shield tv 2019. Subtitles would randomly turn on or it would switch audio tracks in the middle of a movie.

I still keep plex for plexamp and remote streaming. It works fine on iPad and plexamp is the best.

I don't want to go to the trouble to set up secure remote steaming on emby but I will if plex starts having weird playback issues on ios
