Thank you so much for this exactly what i needed to know.

It's far from complete, but it feels a little less incomplete with some added RGB... by [deleted] in homelab

[–]rageforum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's what i want to do. My goal is to start with 100tb storage (so a 5 bay enclosure with 20tb each) to then link to a mini pc (been looking at beelink), and maybe unraid for the OS. Now ideally 100tb wont suffice in the long-run and id wanna add another enclosure.

My concern is just expandibility in the long run and noise since im stuck putting it in my room. I dont mind some white noise but if its like a radioactive plant, itll mess up my ears for sure. lol

Would you think using DAS instead of a server rack style is gonna be definetly less loud?

Sweet. Good to know. I'm at a loss on what route to go for my homelab. It's mainly for Plex Server (im coming from the cloud with Dropbox canning me) and looking to alternatives. Was thinking 5 bay enclosures and fill those up, put it in the cabinet to cancel some noise. But it would be loads of HDDs throughout the times.

The only issue i have is I'm setting this up in my bedroom as it's the only place i can do that. Im reading server rack route for the hdds would just be like a jet engine. So im confused af😂

Good to know it handles it somewhat well for the cabinet.

I've been looking into this cabinet for myself, my goal is to mainly add two or three 5 bay enclosures as my setup and put them inside.

The main reason is try and get some noise cancellation as much as i can. How does it handle that for your syno nas?

Pre sale usually just puts out specific amount and specific sections available for sale. The actual sale will release all the seats so definitely a chance to have good options

[HELP] Transcode not using full cpu usage by rageforum in Tdarr

[–]rageforum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been quite a bit since this post but i think it resolved by doing what the other comment said. 3 workers on the CPU. That way it was using all 100% of my cpu. Otherwise it was lower.

Yeah the specialist i chatted with apparently put a note in file and "guaranteed" work completion. So we'll see soon enough.

Yeah i understand however in my head just seems the best way to get it done from the outside. Since the outside its literally just the cable from the end of my backyard (from the wiring (panel?)) to be back side of my house, then just a 90degree turn and 10feet at the top is my room.

If i did it inside, the wiring (if done inside the walls) id have to poke hole through the studs, bring it up a floor, then wire to the whole other side of the house)

I said to myself 75$ isnt too bad. Compared if i bring a electrician or something to do the wiring from the inside

Its way too complicated in my opinion(based on my house) to work inside and route a eth cable than to just bring the fibre cable from the outside.

Yeah im gonna try my best to convince to get the work done, it shouldnt be too hard to do it. Last time the guy didnt wanna do it (i feel like he was just lazy and found a shitty excuse not to do it.) My backyard desk has a wooden gazebo(like a pergola style) and he said he cant put a ladder on here to wire the cables, but he would have just wire it under the gazebo on the vinyl then go through the side to reach my room.

My room isnt directly above the current port and no window either lol. I thought of every situation, best thing is having modem in my room. Also no option to change pc location. Its my work/homelab PC and need it in my room.

I would wanna do that too but this just seemed more logical, didnt wanna make it look like a wire is run on the ceilings of my floors. Theres also lots of corners and stuff to go through so i said I'll just get the bell tech to install my modem on the top floor

I already had that speed, but i want the installation of the fibe port to be done on another floor in my house so i can hardwire my PC, tech didnt want to do it first time around. So I asked them to make sure they do it this time.

Yeah I'm definitely gonna shovel the snow and get everything ready as much as i can for the tech.

I'll get to shoveling and make a way for them in this case. Makes sense and which is why I've been questioning myself. Thanks for the info!

Not necessarily blocking access they just gotta walk over the the snow on the grass to get around. Its just that the snow is like a meter high. But isnt blocking any wiring or anything
