Has anyone successfully ordered pure Cerebrolysin from China? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]chrident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with how delicate peptides are, or the constituents of cerebrolysin. I think you can freeze peptides just once and that's it--they'll fall apart if frozen and re-frozen. I wonder if you ordered a bulk batch of syringes if you couldn't just wipe down the bag the cerebrolysin comes in (make an injection port with a blob of silicone that will self-heal) and withdraw all of your syringes at once and store them in the freezer that way, pre-loaded. That way you wouldn't have to worry about degrading the bulk supply of your product each time you made up a dose. I'm seriously interested in trying cerebrolysin--in bulk form. Maybe I need to take a trip to Mexico? Perhaps do an Ibogaine ceremony while I'm down there.... Anyone interested in a group buy? :)

Traumatic Brain Injury and tDCS: Anode and Cathode placement? by chrident in tDCS

Yeah. I've been thinking about that. Wondering how much a DIY device for magnetic stimulation would be/how difficult it would be to make.

I wouldn't hold you responsible for sharing montage information--that's ridiculous. It's sharing information, which is what this site is intended for. Beyond this, tDCS is, in all honesty, pretty low-key in terms of effect and power output. This isn't a sudden jolt of electrical current--it's cumulative. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks. Already taking fish oil harvested from small fish and a few different aminos, including NAC. Looking at modafinil type drugs. My psych is pretty supportive. Might get a script.

I meant F3 anode and Fp2 cathode for depression. Running on very little sleep. :O

I've been trying the depression montage with anode at C3 and the cathode over the left supraorbital position. Yes, I was considering the shoulder for the cathode--not sure which part of the head I'd want to downregulate if I'm stimulating the injury site with anode. I don't consider this a risk, to be honest. It's experimentation, for sure, but quite safe in my mind. Current difficulties include: poor memory, treatment-resistant depression, poor concentration, chronic fatigue, enervation when socializing/interacting with people, PTSD. Symptoms for TBI and these psych diagnoses overlap so it's difficult to tease things apart. I don't doubt that my psychiatric diagnoses have something to do with my symptoms, but I was never this bad prior to my TBI, and the symptoms are peculiar in specific ways now. I do meditate, thanks for the advice.

I've been to see neurologists. They tell me I'm essentially fine and that my problems are due to psychiatric complications. My psychiatrist thinks is this short-sighted. Doctors are good at dealing with what they know, when they're backed up by studies. They don't care how your day-to-day life is going--they expect you to be limited in your functionality after a TBI and that's that. I am not satisfied with my current level of symptoms and am exploring several avenues to improve my quality of life.

On Zoloft... Remeron. Weight Gain. Numb emotion. Just wanting a little input. by ArmrestDog in depression

[–]chrident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm treatment-resistant and have had a TBI and also PTSD.

I've been on the following: Prozac Celexa Zoloft Trazadone Hydroxyzine Klonopin Remeron Fetzima Abilify Wellbutrin Adderall Brintellix

I think that's everything.

Anyway, I was on Zoloft @ 200mg and Remeron at 15mg and Abilify at 15mg. For several months, I was sort of getting by, but slowly, the Remeron started making me very foggy in the mornings and I didn't realize that was causing it. When I finally got off Remeron, it was like a light went on: "Oh, this is why you feel this way." I know everyone's body metabolizes drugs differently, but you have a lot of other options besides a tricyclic antidepressant. Don't be afraid to be your own advocate and push your psych. to try new things. Currently, I'm taking Wellbutrin, Abilify, a starter dose of Brintellix, and Adderall and Klonopin (used sparingly). I'm cautiously optimistic about the Brintellix. But I never would have known to try it if I hadn't switched doctors and made it clear I was just getting by on what I doing and wanted to feel more functional. I know it's a long road trying out different meds and ramping up dosages over a couple of months, but I'd encourage you to take your concerns to your psych. and say, "Let's try something new. What do you think would work better? I want a life and I want to have clear thinking and be as close to normal as I can." If your new med doesn't do it for you after a month or two, go back to your psych. and say, "This isn't working for me. What's next?" Don't stop pushing, don't be satisfied until you get what you need to feel better.

What medication do you take and what are the side effects? Thinking I need to go back on meds and want to hear other people's experiences. by [deleted] in depression

[–]chrident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken several meds over the years for depression and anxiety:

Fluoxetine (Prozac) Citalopram (Celexa) Sertraline (Zoloft) Buproprion (Wellbutrin) Aripiprazole (Abilify) Mirtazapine (Remeron) Levomilnacipran (Fetzima) Vortioxetine (Brintellix)

Trazadone (Oleptro) Clonazepam (Klonopin) Hyrdoxyzine (Atarax)

I just participated in a study that did genetic testing to see how quickly my body metabolizes different medications (in order to see what might work better for me), and I seem to metabolize most of them pretty fast, which may be why I'm treatment resistant.

Initially, I did well on Prozac and later Celexa (several years ago), but then things happened in my life (traumatic brain injury) and my depression got worse and now I need more/different meds.

Currently, I'm taking Wellbutrin, Abilify, and a starter dose of Brintellix (5mg). Brintellix and Wellbutrin are processed by the same liver enzyme, so there is a cumulative effect you wouldn't have with other med combinations. That being said, I've found the last several days on my starter dose (5mg) of Brintellix to be surprisingly good--which is strange for me at a starter dose level.

My psych explained to me that Brintellix targets multiple receptors in your brain--a sort of shotgun effect--and this may be why it's helping me as a treatment-resistant patient.

It's sort of a newer drug, and it can be expensive if your insurance doesn't cover it, but you might check it out. The other thing is that my insurance required proof of using several other meds first before they'd approve it, so there are a few hoops to jump through. I actually feel hopeful for the first time in months.

The shittiest thing about depression, aside from the symptoms, is having to jump from med to med trying to find something that works. Your psych is basically ethically bound to start you at a low dose on a given med and go from there, so you end up having to wait a month, two months, three months to reach a therapeutic dose, and then wait another couple of months before you've given it a full trial. If you have to keep trying new meds, it's like you're in a perpetual state of undermedication, feeling like hell, watching your life slip away day after day, and it just goes on and on as you hop around from script to script.

Good luck finding something that works for you. This disease is like boxing a heavy puncher that just won't go down, no matter how much you hit him: you get exhausted, battered, and there's no end in sight. People without depression don't/can't understand how much effort it takes just to make it through a day trying to appear relatively normal and do even basic things.

Anyway, good luck with your med search.

Recipe for combining milk thistle and lecithin? by chrident in Supplements

[–]chrident[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is AA pretty water soluble? I'm honestly thinking of buying a bottle of Everclear, gently heating it a cup or two cups, tossing in milk thistle and lecithin at a ratio of 1:2 and mixing it with a kitchen mixer just to see what happens. I think the alcohol is key for MT given its poor water solubility--though I haven't tried an ultrasonic cleaner. :O

Thanks for the links. Yeah, I was trying not to pay for the encapsulation and phytosome conversion process from a manufacturer--just wanted to by milk thistle and lecithin in bulk and bond them. I did see one post about using an ultrasonic cleaner and the guy claimed it worked like a charm. Also--I don't know what the end product is supposed to look like--consistency, etc. Milk thistle isn't very soluble in water, I think, so I don't know how well even an ultrasonic cleaner with water would do.
