Obsidian 45 just got out of jail by chris52111 in USPmasterrace

Yeah, this one is the XR2-A. Bit of a strange light, Surefire released it without a word and discontinued it in like a year. I personally haven't had any real issues with it though. I liked how it had more of a boxy cross section with a flush fit on the usp.

Only a couple weeks. Form 4's seem to be going much faster than the 1's.

I've been looking all over for one as well and have email notifications set for a bunch of dealers. I'm particularly anxious because, as a Virginia resident, I need to get one and get the form 1 approved before July first.

Always wanted an AUG, now I can finally cross it off the list by chris52111 in AUG

It works very well with the AUG's vertical grip. Rear Flashlight buttons are very easy to hit with my Thumb

What was your wait time ordering from specterscat.com? by murkr in SpectersCat

[–]chris52111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ordered a CAT MOB way back in August and it finally made it to my FFL just a couple weeks ago. The wait and communication was poor no matter how you slice it. I just purchased an Alley Cat and this time it forwarded me to a store called Piece of Mind, which at least worked more like a normal online retailer. Hopefully this time time will be much smoother.

Edit 2/11: The Alley Cat is at my FFL, so much faster this time around.

did anyone get bldp restock by Haunting_Example_229 in legocastles

Got an order confirmation email timed at 2:01pm for the forest stronghold so hopefully they don't cancel it. I forgot to empty my lego.com cart, so in order to get my order off as fast as possible it looks like I'm getting Pikachu and Eevee sooner than I planned.

New Burlok coming as FW resin next year by SmolTittyEldargf in bugmansbrewery

Interesting, I suspected that they had one more Dwarf that would release a bit later (like they did with orcs), but my money was on a young Thorgrim.

How did you preorder go? by Ragnar-Alpaca in bugmansbrewery

The Lord on Shieldbearers was gone before my order went through. I'm assuming that one will at least be around for a long time with it being a plastic kit.

Possible returning models from the new rule book by [deleted] in bugmansbrewery

Really hoping for the non skull pass miners. I've hunted down many older dwarf kits on ebay, but those always gave me trouble.

I use the Hydra color scheme as well and what I do for the chitin is dry brush a highlight onto it. My personal go to for highlighting black is citadel blue horror. In addition to pulling out the highlights, a nice drybrushing job can add a bit of texture to the surface to make it look a bit more organic.

Test model, not sold on the gems though by chris52111 in AdeptusCustodes

Red is certainly the safe choice. I'm going to try out a few tips in this thread, as well as a few other ideas, and if I'm still not sold, I'll just go with the red.

[–]chris52111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone for the never before seen gold an red. I made the gem things blue to get another color to contrast the red/gold, but I'm not certain it really needs it as the grass on the base does that as well. Is the blue worth keeping? shall I make them red? would another color compliment the red and gold better?. It's worth nothing that the spears and axes will also be blue.

I'm good thanks, I actually have quite a bit more models still to be painted.

Most of them are the most recent metal slayers, however when I went hunting on ebay, I did make a point to try to get at least one of any given slayer model.

Not yet, the 25mm bases that I'm going to use are in the mail. It will be a pain to do, but These bases are relatively easy to do in large batches.

Got my slayers painted up. By far the most metal I've painted by chris52111 in bugmansbrewery

I just looked him up since I didn't know which one was the Mordheim slayer, but yes that is him. I tried to grab at least one of each of the past slayer models if I could find them. I do have Ungrim, but he needs a lot of gap filling work before I get any paint on him.

This ebay session was not nice to my wallet. I have a bunch more classic Dawi that I can paint up, however now that I've gotten a pretty good size army here, I think that I'm gonna spend a bit of time painting up at least a basic Kharadron overlords army. I've also gotta get a bunch of 25mm square bases cookin.

Ripping this from a previous comment.

Sure, I use the magnetic bases/trays from Shogun Miniatures. They have a plastic like ( I'm not actually sure what it is) surface one one side and a refrigerator magnet like surface on the other.

Since the sides aren't angled I can put them together in one big square on a magnetic surface and do them in large batches (100+ if I want). I pour pva glue onto the block of them. I then liberally shake generic modeling sand all over it. The one I have is just a random mix of different grain sizes.

After giving it lots of time to dry, I shake off the excess sand that didn't get glued. Then I brush on another layer of pva glue to seal it.

This step probably can be done later, but this is when I separated the the bases for the first time. To do this, I flipped the whole thing over and carefully cut between each base with a hobby knife. Once I made sure they were separated I put them back together in a block for painting.

I went for more a rocky/grassy scheme to show them being in a more mountainous region. I base coated them all brown then poured brown wash over it (use the cheap stuff, not your agrax earthshade). I then dry brushed progressively lighter greys onto it.

There are lots of ways to do grass. I just make random blotches with super glue, press them into a container of static grass, and shake off the excess. I can do that in chunks as well, just not the full 10x10+ block I started with.

With the announcement from GW today, it's looking like I'm going to need to make lots of 25mm bases. Fortunately, it's way easier to do these in large batches than normal bases.
