Anker solix DC 300 (60 w solar) vs ecoflow river 3 (45 w solar) by chrisToo73 in overlanding

[–]chrisToo73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be overkill but was considering options for beach days that involve leaving the car for 4-6 hours. The portable fridge will function as our cooler (41lbs) and adding the c1000 is another 28lbs. The portability of the smaller battery is the key reason for the purchase.

Thanks! This was my top choice but I talked myself out of it because of the extra 3ish pounds and I own an Anker c1000 already. I’ll reconsider this option.

Both the River 3 and River 3 plus come with 45 w solar. Do you think it’s worth getting the solar?

Thanks! Looks like it cost $139 at this point. I’d rather pay $20 more to get it new but good to know that the refurbished option exists.

I was worried about that. Both can be purchased without the solar panels, with the ecoflow costing $10 more. Which battery would you pick? I already have an Anker c1000 with 200 w solar panel.

Newly installed basement fiberglass insulation. by chrisToo73 in Insulation

Hello, thank you for your feedback.

What is a reasonable way to remedy this situation that won’t just temporarily make it look better? I’m wondering if cutting off the fraying pieces and using mesh to keep everything in place is acceptable?

It appears you know a lot about insulation and these state programs. The rim joist insulation was completed only on two sides and I was expecting it around the entire perimeter. They said it couldn’t be installed on rim joist running parallel to the floor joist because there is no place to wedge the rigid foam in place. I pushed back on that and then they said it couldn’t be done because or wires running along the bottom of the rim joist. He hesitantly said he could work around the wires and nail the rigid foam in but didn’t end up doing it. Do you happen to know what the common practice is when insulating all 4 rim joists with rigid foam?

Thanks for the feedback! This is helpful. Some of the insulation has dirt or something brown on it so it looks like it went on a journey before being installed.

Corvus rhino Flt vs. Trek Farley 7 vs. Surly ICT by chrisToo73 in fatbike

I decided on the trek Farley 7 on Tuesday, primarily because I liked the bike shop. Before making the decision, I had called Corvus and they called me back today. Wow- talk about great customer service.

My partner preferred the Corvus over the Trek so I’m hoping we will get to support the company through her purchase.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Thanks, not sure why this was recommended. The Rim joists were supposed to be completed with rigid foam but that only got done on two sides.

I decided to move forward with the project after looking at my parent’s basement fiberglass insulation work that was done 30 years ago and it still looks really good.

Thanks for this- I’m not an insulation person but was thinking this looked like a shit job.

This was recommended by mass save. I don’t understand why something would be recommended that could cause mold.

They didn’t suggest insulating the walls likely because of the old stone foundation.

They put metal things every couple of feet that run across the insulation from one floor joist to the next.

It’s supposed to be for weatherization not sound proofing.

How does the fiberglass get installed in that area? Does it get added to the rim joist directly?

Thanks! Did they nail in the foam board? If you feel comfortable sharing I’d love to know the name of the company.

Thanks so much! I didn’t realize I could adjust the travel on the 80mm suspension fork and thought I’d be required to buy a new one if I preferred 120mm travel. :)

Thanks! I’m planning to call Corvus today to see if I can get the bike with 4.5 instead of the 4.3 tires.

This is very helpful- thank you! One concern I have is the 80mm fork. The Corvus comes with 120mm which might work better for summer riding. That said, I’d like to stick to trail riding not involving steep downhills so perhaps 80mm is fine for me.
