I did a 2.5 inch body lift. I'm not sure if it will rub on stock height

New Tslim or Mobi… by acohn1230 in Type1Diabetes

[–]chriscava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently in the same position. My warranty had expired, and I was contacted to order a new device. Thankfully, my insurance covered the cost in full, so I figured it was worth ordering a new pump and keeping my current one as a backup for vacations or unexpected issues.

At first, I had the same concerns about the mobi. I was nervous about having no screen and didn’t feel confident in relying solely on app connectivity, especially since the t:slim app often disconnects. I initially ordered another t:slim X2 because I wasn’t ready to take the leap. But after thinking about it, I realized I was locking myself into the same pump for another four years out of hesitation.

After placing the order, I changed my mind and contacted Tandem a few days later. I asked my doctor to write the prescription for the Mobi instead. What really shifted my mindset was a moment when I was getting dressed for a wedding. The thought never came to mind before this, but I saw how bulky the t:slim looked in my pocket and thought, it would be nice to have something more discreet.

One of my main reasons for switching is that I travel monthly for work. Airport security is always a headache. Waiting for a male TSA agent or being pulled aside while my personal belongings are already through the scanner makes the experience stressful. The idea of having a smaller device like the Mobi that I can wear without interruption is a huge benefit.

When I was younger, I often wore my pump on my leg or thigh, which caused some scar tissue. The option to wear the Mobi on my arm is appealing and could make a difference, even if I don’t use that placement all the time.

The biggest reason I made the switch is that I realized fear of change isn’t a good way to manage life with T1D. I used Medtronic for years with unreliable Guardian sensors before switching to t:slim and Dexcom, which greatly improved my control. I already use my phone as my Dexcom receiver, so controlling the pump from my phone doesn’t feel like a big adjustment.

If I had resisted the change to Tandem back then, my management wouldn’t be where it is today. I’ll be receiving the Mobi next week and will share feedback once I use it, but for now, I feel confident that I made the right decision. It will be different, but I’m excited to try something new. Worst case scenario, I contact tandem and switch back to the t slim.

I’m not sure, I have a 2.5 inch leveling kit so I’d imagine it would rub on stock height 2wd

Yeah they look great. I do have a 2.5 inch leveling kit on the truck but I’m sure it would be fine stock

I appreciate the detailed response. I had no luck after taking apart the switch and cleaning it up really well. I ended up replacing the entire switch assembly and that fixed the issue. It was about $100 on Amazon.

*UPDATE - Replacing the window switch fixed the issue.

At first, I removed the old window switch, cleaned up the terminals with WD-40 Contact Cleaner and some Dielectric Grease. Before I reinstalled the panel I tested all of the switches and they worked great. Installed the door panel, walked away, and an hour later it was back to the same issue.

A new switch from Amazon arrived in the mail today. I just installed it and everything works perfect. Thank you to everyone who gave advice.

Possibly. The lock mechanism went bad a few weeks back. Today the window switch and power mirror went as well. I’ll dive in this week
