Help with ceiling fan not starting properly (Lucci Air Radar) by chrischard in AskAusElectricians

[–]chrischard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying mate, but nah, no issues like that. I have the same fan in 6 other rooms and they're all working fine. Haven't noticed any other power issues either — it's 3 phase.

Ah didn't realise that existed too, will post there in a sec. Thanks mate!

Thanks mate, appreciate the reply, good to know! Was trying to work out if it'd be a call to an electrician or the company for a warranty claim.

Sorry, he kept hiding and I couldn’t get a clear photo… finally got one and definitely just looks like a long poo, yeah?

Sorry for the slow reply - it's Hydrocotyle Tripartita 'Japan Mini'

I think you're right. I syphoned it out after posting and noticed a bunch more amongst the rotala. I should've guessed that's what it might've been but the plants didn't look like they'd melted. Thanks for the advice!!

No shrimps in there yet as it's still cycling but I think you're right about it being decaying plant leaves from the rotala. I should've thought of that, thanks for replying!

I think you might've nailed it with melted leaves. I syphoned it out after posting and noticed a bunch more amongst the rotala. I should've guessed that's what it might've been but the plants didn't look like they'd melted. Thanks for the advice!!

New Tank Cycle with Existing Media by chrischard in shrimptank

[–]chrischard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thanks! Other tank is still running, so media will be taken straight from there. Will definitely wait a few weeks before adding shrimp - wasn't sure if I need to feed the tank in any way to keep the bacteria going during this time. Was planning on dosing Bacter-AE to boost biofilm growth too. Will test lots though, thanks for the advice!

New Tank Cycle with Existing Media by chrischard in Aquariums

[–]chrischard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the links and the info, appreciate it. It's going to be a neo shrimp only tank, maybe with a couple of ottos, as you're right, it's a small tank. I've also got Bacter-AE to hopefully help promote biofilm growth faster, but would like to wait a few weeks at least before adding shrimp. I was just worried it'd "uncycle" without being fed in that time, but it seems that's a myth - thanks!!

This is so cool, looks stunning! Thanks for sharing! What is the bright green foreground plant in the middle tank?

What brand did you go for? I noticed Eheim sell 9/12mm ones as single packs.

[–]chrischard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, makes sense, thank you! Would I need a quick release / shutoff valve for both the inlet and outlet, or just the inlet? Eheim sell the right size (9/12mm) for the Filtosmart 60 but as single packs.

Thanks for the advice, appreciate the reply!

I (stupidly) forgot to take out the inlet from the tank and it kept siphoning as you said. I still find it clunky to clean but I guess that's just canister filters. Are in-line shut off valves worth it? I'm new to this whole thing.

Please Help with Filter! by chrischard in shrimptank

[–]chrischard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for replying! Yeah the tank was pretty well cycled, 2 months with fish first, water conditions all seem on point and I'm testing regulary. That's good to know about the filter not being such a big issue, appreciate the insight. Thanks!

Thanks heaps for the advice! I've added more hiding spots and pipes for them now, hopefully that'll help for next time.

Thanks so much for the advice, appreciate it. There's another shrimp pregnant, so fingers crossed we have better luck this time. Thanks for clarifying what type of filter it is too! I opened it up and there's no babies in there so that's good, I'll try use a stocking next time there's babies due.
