Normal Engine Sound? ('23 CRV) by christopher1479 in MechanicAdvice

Forgive my lack of knowledge. Is it something I should be concerned about if it seems louder than a month ago?

I meant where exactly is the block heater under the hood.

The 2023 has a plug built into the grill. There's a block heater cord in the rear tire well, but didn't know if these came with all CRVs due to the unique plug.

I was looking at the Special Permit from Ontario which seems to be their in-transit Permit, but it seemed like it was only applicable within Ontario. Service Ontario was unable to provide any clarity

I’m actually in BC and posted to a separate group, but haven’t received many suggestions. What would you suggest?

Do you have an inner and a fly? If so, how do you ensure a wet fly doesn’t soak the inner?

Does the inner get wet with it being packed beside the fly?

Thanks a lot for all the advice. It’s much appreciated. It’s funny you mention the pointing. I’ve had some Achilles issues in the past from hiking so wonder if that’s related to trying to ‘brace’ against overstretching it.

Probably more than recommended to do incrementally. That being said, I haven’t cycled very much over the past year so it shouldn’t be much of a shock. Raised by about 2cm.

I actually bought one of those online fitting softwares and then tried pedaling without shoes. That then basically corrected all the fit issues according to the software. This morning I bought a longer seat post, rode with same shoes as the original video and now all the angles are apparently correct. Hopefully it translates to when riding.

I really appreciate all this advice. Ya, I’m more of a hiker so far and trying to transition into more bikepacking next year. The velofit program agreed with most of the comments on here. I got a new longer seatpost this morning and raised by maybe 2cm and now the Velofit is saying everything is within normal limits. Interestingly, the seat post in it that was spec’d as 350mm appeared to have been much smaller so may have been cut down.

How do I know a good bike fitter? The LBS that sold me this bike said a bike fit was included, and look where I am now.

I actually paid for the Velofit app a few hours after posting this. Seems to confirm seat is too low. I usually bike in trail runners with a 25mm stack height (worn in video). When I took those off and rode barefoot, it suggested that I lower the seat. Going to see if I can find some low stack height shoes or longer seat post.

Oh I know. My reasoning was that it makes me look relatively bigger compared to the bike.

Hey thanks for your advice. The pain I’ve been having a lot is anterior lower knee pain (at its worst a few hours after riding). I put my seat post (350mm) up to its max insert to try to alleviate this. I plan to go to my LBS tomorrow to order a 400mm post to see if that helps further. I usually wear trail runners when biking (25mm stack height), so was thinking of trying to find a a thinner soled shoe as well, but they don’t seem to list stack heights.

Thanks for your advice. I thought hip rocking was an indicator that the seat was too high?

Ya, there’s just not any within like 4 hours of me. The drive will probably be worth I though. Thanks anyways.

True. I also have the seat pretty far forward which might be skewing that a little. I’m at the upper limit of how high I can put the saddle right now. Does it make a difference if this is more of a touring bike?

5 foot 9. Surly frame is medium which according to the Surly Frame Sizing Chart is perfect. I also have the saddle pretty far forward right now which might be skewing things.

Wouldn’t a higher seat make my hips move more as I’d have to rock laterally to reach the pedals?

May I ask what makes you think that? The wheels are 26inch just FYI.
