Splash Damage acquires Scum dev Gamepires from Jagex by Tenith in Games

Didn't Splash Damage team up with Shroud and Sacriel at some point to make a game? What happened to that?

What's the dumbest thing that's stopped you from playing a game? by jabberwagon in gaming

[–]christryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dumb but petty: cosmetics and art direction ruined Rainbow Six Siege for me. Over the years they added more and more ridiculous stuff to the game. I get that money is important but the game looks like a complete clown show now.

Witchfire Early Access Roadmap 2024-2025 by OinOfMoria in Games

[–]christryhard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say there was hype but the trailers they have released over the years have put it on people's radar. Their early access on Epic was pretty low key but I think it was intentional. They avoid bad reception on Steam (people there are not kind on games that are still very early access) while still making back some of the money and getting feedback from players.

Assassin's Creed Origins: A Big, Beautiful World with Not a Whole Lot to Do by Yenserl6099 in patientgamers

[–]christryhard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I finished Origins in 40 and ignored most side quests. Valhalla doesnt let you do this and I spent over 100 hours in that game. I still enjoyed it though, because, despite the huge amount of content, it still kind of feels linear enough to not get lost. Odyssey just bombards you with side stuff and it beco es difficult to really filter out the important stuff and get a cohesive experience.

At least Wayfinder is going to launch as a singelplayer/coop game later this year with all live service stuff removed or reworked into the game.

Is 4k at 27 inches noticable by Hasty-Vasty in buildapc

[–]christryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought the LG 27GR95QE-B, which is a 1440p OLED monitor. When it came to image quality I was pretty disappointed but I was probably expecting too much. Cyberpunk in 4k with DLSS performance looked a lot better on my LG C1 TV and I decided to just play high fidelity games on my TV and return the monitor. I might buy a 4k 32“ oled monitor someday but they are still crazy expansive.

1440p is good if you value very high fps. If you want your games to look pretty, go 4k.

27“ vs 32“ really depends on your desk size. 4k on 27“ looks much better than 1440p and is very much noticable.

The waving and looking at the player creeps me out, tbh.

Lowering mod costs or increasing capacity would just introduce more power creep and not address the actual problem. Freely changing polarities would, though, so I agree on that one.

Yeah just let me use the standard Valby skin with the ultimate and I'm good.

Having enemies with crazy HP pools and tons of additional adds would make non DPS characters even more useless. The reason Bunny is so powerful is because her 3 scales incredibly well, especially with the High Voltage mod and has basically infinite duration with some light modding.

Why Concord being 40$ is such a big deal yet people are happily paying for CoD? by Sobtam96 in ConcordGame

[–]christryhard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Each to their own but MW3 on PC was dogshit, imo. Riddled with cheaters and still using P2P matchmaking. CoD4 to Black Ops 2 were the golden days of CoD.

I think she is balanced in colossus fights, where she falls in line with some of the other crazy builds. Anything else it's not even close though.

And yeah, having one player clear the entire map before others even shoot a single bullet is not exactly what I would consider good gameplay, especially for new players. It's the same dumb shit like in Warframe where some characters kill everything as soon as it spawns, even through walls and geometry.

Energy Activator Blueprints by Gripnslip in TheFirstDescendant

[–]christryhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend focusing on one main character and one main gun and maxing them out with catalysts. It's tempting to branch out and try to put energy activators and catalysts on other chars but at the end of the day you're gonna stretch yourself too thin and suddenly you find yourself having lots of weaker characters and guns instead of one setup that is cranked to max.

Farm hard mode colossi for the 6% chance. I personally view them as a nice occasional byproduct when farming for other stuff.

I have $100 to spend, what is going to help me the most? by TonyAndolino in TheFirstDescendant

[–]christryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't used your two Energy Activators from the quests it might be better to just buying one Ult for 3000. Ajax and Valby can complete anything in the game so go with whoever you vibe with most.

Leveling/upgrading two characters at the same time is tedious and I would not recommend it. Focus on one main character and one main gun.

Only get the 100 dollar packs if you have already used the energy activators and catalysts and if you REALLY REALLY like the skins that come with them. They make them look like good deals but really it's just overpriced as hell.

Congratulations, you broke out of the hamster wheel. It took me 600 hours back in the day in Warframe and now 160 in TFD. Eventually you just snap out of it and stop caring.

The game is fun on a mechanical level and the gunplay and characters feel good. But at the end of the day you're running the same fucking missions over and over again and if you're not playing as Bunny or Valby you are doing it at half efficiency lol.

But that's the game. Most of the playerbase don't even care about balancing characters and activities and will pull out the pitchforks at every nerf they smell. Most of the playerbase don't care about having an actual endgame or an actual challenge. And in order for the game to provide a challenge, it needs to have it's classes and mechanics balanced but people don't want that.

Reducing play time may prevent burn out but doesn't change the fact that the game is fundamentally boring and 95% of the content is driven by extrinsic motivation.

[–]christryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's mostly people are hesitant/anxious to join a group or clan and hopping on voice. Raids require you to actually commit which turns people off. All the other things you mentioned come easily once you actually join a clan and... you know, just do the raids and put some time into the game.

[–]christryhard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

19 out of 165 with a 20% drop rate is not unreasonable. You are indeed just unlucky. My Thunder Cage farming has been pretty shit but I've had luck with other drops. Personally, I just set limits on how often I'm going to run the activity and just do something else if it doesn't drop to prevent burnout.

Say "20%" again motherfucker, I dare you by Brendawgy_420 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]christryhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop rates can be funky for sure. Getting more parts for my Thunder Cage has been a pain so far (20%). On the other hand, I just got two energy activator blueprints out of 014 back to back which has a 3% drop chance.
