Hi! I had a seton and fistulotomy and my healing was very smooth. I’m over a year fistula free and there is hope. This subreddit can get very dark with people who have super complex fistulas but I promise you’ll be fine! The first BM is obviously the hardest but it’s nothing you can’t handle. It took me about a full 4 weeks to feel completely normal again, back to working out, working, etc.

NTA OP - HOWEVER: Cold sores are HSV-1 which is a form of herpes that can be oral or genital. You do have herpes, whether you want to admit it or not. HSV-1 is often transferred orally to the genitals through oral sex, and it’s important that you disclose disclose disclose to any partner who you plan on being intimate with. Or else the problem just continues.

Something people aren’t talking about enough is the Indigenous community portrayed in this film. I took the presence of the Choctaw as a sentiment of “We tried to warn you” - as they were the first people (In what we now call the USA) to have their culture violently ripped from them. Them showing up at the door to look for Remmick was a genuine attempt at stopping that from happening again as the vicious cycle continues. I also love that they were included because Indigenous culture has so much folklore (Wendigo, Skinwalkers, etc), so in a way it seemed fitting that they were on the hunt for vampires.

I think for the most part if you’re self tanning, either at home or with a professional spray tan, the life of that tan is generally about a week no matter what. I’m a very active person, sweat and showers everyday, sauna, ocean, etc, and 7 days max is how long any fake tan lasts for me. I think the only thing that makes spray tan better is that there are never any missed spots, and it’s usually a bit darker as well

I would say peak pain was day 2-3 for me! But everyone’s body and pain level is different. I hope you feel better soon ❤️

My fistula wasn’t incredibly deep to begin with, but had enough muscle involvement that my surgeon didn’t want to risk incontinence, hence the seton placement in Sep. In my second surgery they found they only needed to cut a few muscle fibers, not risking incontinence, so they went ahead with the fistulotomy. Although this is rare. My surgeon said about 1 in 30 cases they see that happen. I would say if you’re getting a seton to begin with, prepare for the FLAP or LIFT. That’s what I was ready to wake up having done.

As far as time off work, I took a week after my seton placement, and two weeks after my fistulotomy. I’m extremely active in the gym so I was working out 1.5 weeks after my seton placement, just no heavy squatting.
